Probably did what he had to do from direction of ownership. After last year's regular season, there's no way this ownership group would go for a rebuild (they never will). I don't think too many season ticket holders were too excited for a rebuild either. Add to that the new arena deal/no deal would be tough with a bottom feeding team. Not saying it's not the right thing to do l just that it wont and can't happen.

Good to know we got all these pieces that don’t seem to mesh and Sutter all locked up long-term.

I don’t think this is as good as this team can be but man there is no way they are good enough to be considered Cup contenders.

I’m very frustrated with this team had a feeling in the offseason we should build for the future instead of acquiring a bunch of 30 year olds (or nearly 30) and signing them for the better part of a decade.

Last season everything went right in the regular season and now Huberdeau and Mangiapane’s value have hit a brick wall.

I’m not saying all is lost but it’s not looking good and there isn’t much we can do to change things with the cap hits and terms associated with a lot of our pieces.

If after getting destroyed by the Oilers who then got destroyed by the Avs and then losing two of our three best forwards wasn’t enough to convince them we should look towards the future they are truly delusional.

Even if you call it a wash with the players coming in for the ones going out, we still were nowhere close to being good enough when compared to the likes of Colorado, Vegas and even Edmonton.

I’m sure things will get better to a certain extent but this team just isn’t at the same level as the top teams in the West, and I don’t think that should come as much of a surprise.

Vladar has put in a couple heroic performances and the team has pissed them away.

Markstrom has put in a few absolutely brutal performances (sub .900) and he still gets the nod.

I think Markstrom has proven to be the better goalie historically, but theres a limit to the amount of rope you give him to work through whatever the hell it is that he needs to work through.
