Looks like it will probably come down to Kulak or Rafikov.
I still say Kulak because at least he's played games in North America. Rafikov's status is still too uncertain for me.

Mangiapane again. I suspect he will put up his 2nd straight 100+ pt season in the OHL this upcoming year. He's a long way out yet but has more upside than anyone left on the list, likely by a long shot. I like upside.

Nope. Has yet to show a desire to be a flame and we have no idea what he is as a player on North American Ice. Kulak has both and thus is a better choice for myself.

He clearly stated he wanted to be a flame. And if you don't agree, mangiapane is a better prospect than kulak too

I don't remember reading anything of the sort, I did see some quotes where he was interested about being picked and thought of it as cool and neat, but with no commitment or statement about intending to become an NHLer.

For me it was between Mangiapane and Carroll. I went with Carroll because he plays the type of game that can get him into the NHL even if he struggles to produce points. I'm excited to see what he can do in the AHL next season.

From a calgaryflames.com article:
Quote:
While his immediate future is uncertain, one thing is certain; Rafikov wants to don the Flaming C.
"I’ve been always dreamed about playing in the NHL. It’s the best league in the world. That’s why everybody is coming here."

I don't care much what Rafikov's said, actions speak louder than words. I like him but twice now he's failed to come out for prospects camp showing he isn't much interested. I don't care if he's the next Larry Robinson, if he isn't going to play for the Flames how can we call him a prospect?

So you're suggesting that his inability to obtain a VISA was an intentional ploy on his part?
Edit: why not simply say "no, I am not coming over"?

It does seem a bit suspicious that he couldn't obtain a visa for last year's development camp but a few months later he was able to enter the country for the Super Series and the WJC summer camp exhibition games
Just saying

The team probably acquired VISAs for all the players.
Seems like a more plausible explanation than the conspiracy theory.

I think Seiloff makes a big jump this year. Perhaps wishful thinking, but the staph infection problems were such bad luck that I hope he catches a break and bounces back fully. Tough and mean. That is what we need.

Actions speak louder than words? How about let's see what happens once his contract expires before crucifying the kid.
You have no idea if he will ever play for the flames or not. He is drafted by them and is most definitely a prospect.

How is it a conspiracy theory to think that a Russian KHL player wants to stay in the KHL? Especially when he hasn't come to North America for anything other than playing with the Russian national team?

Follow the conversation.
Someone suggested that he didn't want to come and thus didn't try to get a VISA. I replied to that.
If he doesn't want to come, he doesn't want to come.
But when someone suggests that the VISA thing was an intentional ruse, that's a conspiracy theory.

Could be intentional or could be just a lack of interest, either way if he prefers Russia so be it.
Why would he burn his bridges by saying "no, I'm not coming over"? Maybe the KHL or his team goes bankrupt and he screws up his Flames option as well. For me I keep my options open even if they aren't my first choice.

Something simple like: I can't make it due to prior commitments. Or family reasons. Or something simple.
How about talking to Treliving like a human being.
Faking the VISA thing is silly and pointless. Other than making for good internet conversation.
