went Culkin over Smith
Culkin seemed to be progressing at the pro level pretty quickly last season, suggesting an arc that could put him in the NHL with a greater probability than others on the list.
Will be interesting to see what Smith and Carroll do in the AHL this season.
As others mentioned, the last 20% of the season had Agostino doing the same thing, another guy to consider.
What I like is 15 in the bank, and another 5-8 guys that still intrigue me.

I think I'm going to be on Carroll island for a while here, but of the remaining names might be most likely to break into the NHL. Could make an arguement for Smith though

Culkin FTW. I have a suspicion he will be one of the final cuts in camp this year.

Went off the board and selected Mangiapane (because Gaudreau).

Went with Smith.
For me, Rafikov and Smith have the best chance of the remaining names. Then Culkin.

Smith
Round 16 and this is still interesting. Love it. In hindsight we can see all the prosepcts that did not make it and undoubtedly many of these guys won't seem as promising 3 years from now. But I have to believe drafting is better than it was. Adding a guy like Morrison in FA is gravy.

10 is a clear cut break point in a prospect list, but so too is 15.
Guys that finished lower than 15 in past polls?
Summer 2013:
17.Brossoit
18.Arnold
21.Bouma
22.Kanzig
23.Culkin
25.Kulak
26.Ferland
30.Ortio
32.Rafikov
Summer 2014
16. Kulak
17. Agostino
18. Smith
19. McDonald
20. Kanzig
21. Culkin
22. Wolf
23. Hickey
24. Ollas Mattson
26. Rushan Rafikov
33. Austin Carroll
35. Josh Jooris
Interesting to watch stock rise, stock fall, ... some players staying in the same range.
Hickey is a noticeable leap. McDonald as well. Both a credit to voters not chasing the shiny new prospects.

I'm on Smith until he gets in, then I'll likely move to Rafikov.
Unless someone makes a really compelling argument for someone else. It's reached the point where I haven't seen enough minutes of game play to make any real informed pick. That won't stop me from voting though!

And that he was taken in the 7th round and most people here outside of the WJC haven't seen much of him.
Which, granted, may all be attributed to a "Russian" factor.

The way things are looking with Rafikov, with him twice failing to get a visa, he may never come over to NA which pretty well disqualifies him as a prospect. I like him as a player as well but if he isn't interested, so be it.

Rafikov seems to be giving the Flames the run-around. Last year he submitted his visa a day too late. This year we weren't told anything. We're not sure how interested he is in North American hockey. So I won't vote for him until the very end.
Agostino is up for me. You can't count out a guy who had 43 points in 67 games in his first year of pro hockey. That in my mind puts him ahead of a guy like Smith who has to prove he can put up those kinds of numbers in pro.

Nobody on the list at 16 or so is blemish free.
Skating, conditioning, size, hands, age, or a chance he won't come over. All of them have ifs. Rafikov's biggest if is interesting in playing outside the KHL.

Surprised that Carroll is getting talked about already. He was barely drafted and ended up playing on a stacked WHL team as an overage player. Lets see what he does in the AHL first before claiming he's a better prospect than proven AHL players who are pretty much the same age or a Memorial Cup champ who is younger.

I been voting mangiapane for like, six rounds.
Then I gave up and voted Culkin in round.
