Pretty bizarre year in the NFL that a) only 11 receiving TDs led the league and b) that it was a Lion (Kenny Golladay) who did so, despite having Jeff Driskel and David Blough throwing to him for half the season.

Lol. At least they're not exercising the option yet. That would be colossally stupid.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...b-starter-2020

Quote:
LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears are committing to quarterback Mitchell Trubisky for at least one more season.

Bears general manager Ryan Pace announced Tuesday that Trubisky will enter 2020 as the team's unquestioned starting quarterback but stopped short of saying whether the organization plans to exercise his fifth-year option for 2021.

"Yes, we do [feel comfortable with Trubisky as the starter]," Pace said. "I think with Mitch, as we go through it, and we need more time in the coming months to evaluate everything, but the first thing that comes to mind for me is just consistency. You see moments, you see games, but for him [the issue is] stringing together better consistency. So you have the peaks and valleys. We just need to flatten that out."

"... Mitch is our starter. We believe in Mitch, and we believe in the progress that he's gonna continue to make."

I just don't understand the methodology in the NFL at times. The Dolphins totally overachieve and play competitive football in the 2nd half of the season with no NFL caliber RB's to speak of in an offense generally devoid of talent and the reward for the OC and bring 67 year old Chan Gailey out of retirement to run the offense? Really?

Jaguars are going to keep Marrone on as head coach? Really? I get that Coughlin rubbed a lot of people the wrong way but it's a big stretch to think the VP was the reason that team has been horrible on the field the past few seasons.

Meanwhile, in Jacksonville....

Bad teams stay bad due to bad owners.

And speaking of bad owners, Jason Garrett is scheduled for a second meeting with Jerry Jones today and there's some speculation he could be brought back. Amazing.

I don't think they have a lot of options as of today they only have $10 million in cap space for 2020. The only positive thing about Trubisky at this point is his salary and bringing in an expensive UFA QB is not in the cards in the offseason. Pace has backed the team into a corner with salary cap mismanagement as he and Nagy better hope the Packers and Vikings will both falter in 2020 like they did in 2018 or there will be a house cleaning in Chicago this time next year.

Jags owner wants to see the current regimen without old school Coughlin sticking his nose in. Makes some sense I guess, considering they did get to the AFCC with this set up.

Only reason Garrett would be kept IMO is if the high profile guy or Jones wants isn’t yet available but knows they will be next offseason.

Jones doesn't want a high profile guy. He wants a puppet.

Reports are the Garrett meeting is over and he is seen saying his goodbye. Sounds like a classy way the Cowboys handled it. Garrett has been with the organization 30 years.

Eagerly awaiting McDaniels trading Baker for Nick Foles or something equally stupid.

Dorsey is out.

Mike McCarthy is the Browns’ 1st interview on Thursday; a pairing with Eliot Wolf being considered

If they were playing any other team, they might get to complain, but then you learn that Mychal Kendricks tore his ACL and you just laugh and laugh.

The Seahawks were pretty much a who's who of "who?" when they started the season. Then they lost Will Dissly (their TD leader at the time), then Justin Britt then Tedric Thompson, then Rashaad Penny (running back the first), then Chris Carson and CJ Prosise (running backs 2 and 3), then Mychal Kendricks and Quandre Diggs, then - and this is my favourite one - in week 17, ALL of Luke Willson, Jaron Brown and Malik Turner. Which on most teams you'd say, "so what, they lost some no-name guys and a washed up TE from their practice squad" ...except on the Seahawks those are starters.

Wilson has no one to throw OR hand the ball off to. They should call this game the Hospital Bowl.

Oh I agree. This is basically a "who has the better practice squad?" game. Eagles should have Jordan Howard back this week, and Boston Scott looks like he might be putting it all together finally, but I think this game is a coin flip.

Browns have a strong interest in Urban Meyer.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wky...a-0302b32fbc35

#hope this happens. It would be glorious watching him fail and fail spectacularly at the NFL.

After his heart issues and stabbing headaches, who would hire him?

Or were all of those medical claims just excuses to get him out of a bad (or declining) situation?

@WerderEdESPN:

Source: #Cowboys Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones have moved slowly and with “abundance of care and respect” for Jason Garrett. That phase expected to conclude soon with Garrett not part of organization. Next phase to involve candidate interviews will begin quickly thereafter.
