JK checks a few boxes. Might not be the best return suggested but probably a realistic piece. Young controllable Center with Backlund-esque numbers.

It’s not exciting but it’s not terrible, as long as there’s more to a deal involving him

Salary isn’t great.

No kidding a 1st and a good prospect as well taking on that contract for a 30 point player.

Yes, please! Bring back Sammy!

Kotkaniemi: .407
Backlund...: .540

For more money, with less of a 200 ft game.

No thanks

He has actually regressed this year, with his lowest PPG as a Cane.

He's a #3 OA who has already had one team give up on him, now apparently another.

Was just going to say that.

He’s going backwards a 23 and had a lot of term and an ugly AAV left.

This is not a trade you make.

Florida was essentially running with three centers the entire playoffs - Barkov, Bennett, and Lundell - not unlike what the Flames were doing with Lindholm, Backlund, and Kadri earlier this year.

Lundell was averaging 17:00-18:00 mins a night (excluding the big 4OT game against the Canes) during that run while mostly playing with Reinhart and Luostarinen at ES, taking lots of D-zone starts, and anchoring their second PK unit (Barkov had PK1)

He's already a good player that can comfortably hold down the #3C spot on a president trophy worthy team, and has room to grow on both offense and defense. If he ends up on the Flames, it's a safe bet that he'll be Backlund v1.1, but even better at faceoffs than Backlund is.

The Flames could do a lot worse than Hanifin for Lundell on a 1:1 swap...if Hanifin is a pure rental to Florida. Personally, I think he's a way more compelling "get" than Poitras or anything that the Canes can offer.

Poitras is still young, but his WJC performance this year was really disappointing for someone playing in the NHL...there was no reason he should have been as invisible as he was.

I don't think you can say Montreal "gave up on him" but yes, he's been buried on the 4th line in Carolina. Could be a player that benefits from more skilled linemates, no disrespect to Jesper Fast and Stefan Noesen.

Sadly Bennett isn’t too fond of Calgary.
That ship has sailed.

I would think Kotkaniemi wouldn't be the main piece.

Hopefully it would be something like Hanifin + pick for 1st + Prospect (Morrow?) + Kotkaniemi

Good. It would be too awkward to pull him back into the fold here.

Not a chance they would trade Bennett going into this years playoffs. He is a playoff warrior .

Have to think if the Flames are talking to the Canes and JK is involved it is because Carolina may want to do a sign and trade and he is the salary that needs to be moved out to make it happen. If he was attached to a few other young prospects or picks it could be a good deal.

If JK is involved then I hope we don't trade with Carolina.

I'd seriously consider Kotkaniemi and a 1st (Assuming rental situation. More if not.) and throw the kid with Huberdeau and see if anything clicks. $4.8M doesn't bother me that much if he ends up in the top 9 considering the rising cap.

Kotkaniemi is awesome but not a #1C. Calgary won't get that in a trade anyways.
