I'm just looking forward to the inevitable Carol vs. Alpha battle. And I'm betting that Carol rips her to shreds.

Wouldn't it be great is Alpha killed Carol.
That would be aggressive writing, that would create some understandable aggression, that would finally get rid of Carol.

Is anybody still watching?
Last two episodes weren't bad, but keeping Lydia does seem to come with a lot of lives lost.

After what he did to Glenn why has Negan not been executed yet.

Because society cannot move forward by just killing everyone! Or some such nonsense. He really deserved an epic death to cap off his story. Now it feels like he is just being dragged along for plot. Not good plot, mind you. Just plot.

I enjoyed that episode last night. Negan is easily the best character on the show at this point, so the more the story revolves around him, the better IMO.

I still can't figure out the Whispers.
The whole concept is, well dumb. Are they totally feral? What about washing do they wash? I can tell you from experience, that is you don't wash for an extended time it is't pretty. What about eating, do they cook eat raw?
I just don't really see this, working. Have they got to such a state of hygienical level that they now smell like the dead?
Ugh, so many questions. Like, babies? I mean I like to rip a strip off as much as the next fella, but eek, an couple of unwashed smashing away isn't well on my list.
I don't know I am just not buying it all.

Yup, they may make sense in a comic book, but that doesn't translate well here. I would think one winter would wipe them out. Do they just keep herds of walkers nearby and grab them when they need them? We've never seen any walker containment, or even anything to block them from their camp. I have a tough time buying them being able to survive in what we have been shown.

Comparing them to all the other villains we've seen on the series, they're certainly the least intimidating. They're a bunch of evil psychopaths, no question. But it seems to me like the Alexandria/Hilltop/Oceanside gang could wipe them out fairly easily if they really wanted to, especially when you've got badasses like Negan, Daryl, Michonne, and Carol on your side.

Because Negan is awesome and Glenn sucked as a character anyhow.

I agree with those points but if my friend was killed in such a way I’d want to execute the killer first opportunity.

I think I’m out. IMO there is simply no momentum in the story from week to week. And the attempts at poignancy and characters development just fall flat for me. I’m interested in what happens to these characters and this world, but no longer have any interest in watching it unfurl over hour long episodes. I’m curious about the Rick movies but they sure as hell better be paced better than this.

The show needs a serious shake up, and not one of these that they preview and tease.
One thing the Wire did well was twist the plot and kill off characters. I did not see the death of Omar coming and then bang!
This is really what this show needs, a true WTF moment.

Negan going to fight Beta was an interesting twist. There's still too many characters I don't give a crap about.

The whole deaf crew is so dull.
I'm not sure what was being telegraphed to us at the end. Is Negan the killer back, because he got a taste of blood again? Or will he only be going on an offense against the whisperers, single handedly saving everyone else?

Finally caught up.
Gee, I thought it was fine. They're following the comics fairly closely again.

I gave up about halfway through season 8. Been thinking about resuming, but every time I come into this thread it dissuades me from doing so.
Any chance it's redeemable at any point? Or should I just cut my losses?

If you get really sick for 2 weeks and need something to numb your consciousness, then ya, you could catch up then. If you get really sick for 6 weeks you could even try FTWD, but I might suggest that you be in a comma before that is appealing.
