Should be able to but amateur scouting needs to focus on college pitchers and find another Pearson. Jays farm system is very good in regards to position players, lot's of guys that look like they could be average major leaguers but the pitching looks weak. After Pearson your best guys are Pardinho (whose a million years away), Borucki/Zeuch who profile as backend guys, and Reid-Foley (who has the look of a reliever)... that's neither enough quantity nor quality.

Five Thirty Eight has their MLB projections out: https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com...b-predictions/
Blue Jays current ELO is 1507, so slightly over league average of 1500. Not surprisingly, they were projected to get an 81-81 record, which translates into a 27% chance of making the playoffs.
These predictions seems fairly in line with what we are expecting. A team close to .500 with an outside shot at a wild card position.

I read today that Aaron Loup is the current longest tenure Bluejay. Would not have guessed.

If that lineup stays healthy and plays to their career potentials, it doesn't look too bad at all. Still weird to not see Bautista there though.

Granderson hitting 4th? I thought he was leading off during spring training and looked pretty good doing it? Either way really pumped to start the season, especially since my interest in hockey now is around zero. Not surprised Tulo is on the 60 day DL, I forget he's even part of the team anymore.
Game start at 1:30 MT today.

Tulo starting in the 60 day DL. Looks like Pinder May have been on to something when he was down in Florida last month.

Yup - I'll eat crow on that one. Definitely didn't buy into it when TAO first mentioned it. Looks like my prediction that Tulo will play less than half the games this year might be close to a lock already.

I think he would be back-dated on the DL from the end of last season so I wouldn't read to much into that he just hasn't been activated yet (saves a roster spot)... That's not to say that his injury isn't an issue ... He was seeing a specialist yesterday - apparently he can hit and field just fine it's the running causing him issues due to (bone?) spurs in his foot... Should know more in the next day or so...

Also if he wasn't close he would have been shut down and doing therapy, getting rest etc. He's been doing everything but playing (and he can't until they take him off the DL which is a mess already from them adding a couple pitchers - so he can't be far off... Unless of course they think surgery is the best course after his appointment yesterday

Brunt was on with the guys this morning and said he wouldn't be surprised if Tulo didn't play...this season.
He is looking at more surgery on his ankle apparently.

It cannot be retro-active to prior seasons. Anyone on the DL when the off-season starts has to be removed of the DL anyways. He's going to be out until end of May or early June minimum.

As far as I'm concerned, Tulo being out has neutral impact. He has been a shell for 2 years now and we finally have the depth to cover that hole.

He won’t retire. He’s not going to give up 65M or whatever is left on his contract. May never play again though.

I think that’s a safe bet on the injury. I’m willing to bet Pinder had a few drinks with the regular Toronto Rogers Jays crew when he was down there and the Tulo status came up. Probably wasn’t aware that it’s not allowed to actually report negative news about the Jays when you work for Rogers, which is why he mentioned it but it never came up or again and none of the regular Jays guys ever said anything.
I’ll never forget the day when one of the Rogers guys in Toronto went off when he was let go about the gag order on the Jays and how it had to be sunshine and rainbows. I think it might have been Walker, but seems odd since he’s been working for SN in Vancouver lately.

I’m so excited for today. I haven’t watched a Flames game since that gone loss to SJ a couple weeks ago. Will be a good fix. Wish the game was on at the normal time though. Would be nice to watch live.

^^ Yup, I am so ready for baseball. I don't think I've ever looked more forward to a season before and I think I can attribute almost all of that to the Flames.

Retire for injury you still get paid! Maybe not the proper term though!
