Super Bowl LV thread: Chiefs vs Buccaneers
Quote:
Jim "Mattress Mack" McIngvale, the Houston furniture store owner who is known for making giant sports bets, has placed the largest wager on Super Bowl LV so far -- $3.46 million on the underdog Tampa Bay Buccaneers at +3.5.
McIngvale flew into Colorado Springs on Wednesday, logged on to the DraftKings mobile betting app from the airport and placed one of the largest bets ever on the Super Bowl. After paying a little extra in juice (-127) to get the Bucs at +3.5, McIngvale would win $2.72 million if Tampa Bay covers the spread.
This year, customers at Gallery Furniture who spend $3,000 or more on a new mattress will get their money back if the Buccaneers beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
The two largest reported bets on the Super Bowl so far have both been on the Bucs. In addition to McIngvale's $3.46 million wager, a bettor with BetMGM in Nevada placed a $2.3 million wager on Tampa Bay last week.

I wouldnt say cakewalk, but I agree with you.
I think if the bucs can take advantage of the banged up chiefs oline they have a chance, their front 7 is great at getting pressure and stopping the run, not so much the pass, so if they dont get pressure mahomes will pick them apart.
Bucs also cannot play from behind, if Brady and the offense start out slow theyre in trouble.
Ill say chiefs 34-28 but ill big time be cheering Brady and the boys (NE Fan)

Only 7 Super Bowls had a margin of victory of 3 points or less. 13% of the games.

The Pats won four times by 4 points or less.

I'm going KC 24-21. Missed field goal at the end of the game to go to OT.

In the spirit of the season it will be a scorigami and a backdoor cover. Chiefs win 39-37 with the Bucs scoring a TD in the final seconds to cover from 39-30.

I'm just hoping for a good game as I have reasons I want to see both teams lose.

I would love that but the -20 forecast is keeping me away from the hills unless it is expected to be warmer out there than in Calgary.

I like watching greatness so it would be cool for old man Tom to add another title and MVP to the list.

Win or lose, I'm fairly certain Tom will play at least one more season.

This is an odd statement because Mahomes is on track to be the greatest ever. You basically can't lose if you like watching greatness.

Am I wildly out of touch...but isn't $3000 US for a Mattress pretty excessive? Any Mattress that is selling for that much has to have a 60% margin...

I think at least two. He's playing next year for sure, and I expect he'd want to make it to 45.

I’m a huge fan of Mahomes, but lots of ifs need to come true for him to be considered a great qb. In fact I’d cheer for him against anyone except Brady.
Tom is Tom. Literally the Greatest.

I'm gonna assume you mean "considered the greatest QB" and not "considered a great QB", because he's already pretty great. A win for Brady Sunday might lock away the GOAT race, but you have to remember Mahomes might have 15 more years at QB. I don't think it's wrong to suggest his current trajectory is to be the greatest, his current trajectory is multiple Super Bowls and every single passing record save the Favre INT record.

Virginia just legalized online sports betting. The number of ads is worse than an election! Promos are insane, it seems. $1000 matching. 55 to 1 odds on whichever team you pick (up to a $5 bet), guarantee to get your losses back on bets up to $1000.
Anyone have any experience with these types of promos. Are there big catches and fine print?
