wow, Megadeth's new album Endgame has to be Mustaine's best work since Countdown. i didn't think he still had it in him to make such an aggressive record, easily tops Metallica's latest effort (which i almost suspect he felt the need to do)
Not bad, but I don't like the vocals. Not because they are growled, but they are to generic and metal-core. I actually prefer growled vocals rather than clean, but I can't stand generic growls, and they sound generic to me. Guitar work sounds pretty cool.
Just out of curiosity, what kind of music do you classify yourself as? Who are your influences? What instrument do you play, or are you the singer? (I hope not!)

Ha! Naw, Im the drummer. I do appreciate the input though!
Im not sure what we would classify ourselves as. We've talked about it as a band and we are not sure. Just metal I guess. Some of our songs are very progressive, some, like are older ones (the song I uploaded is a few years old) are more or less just metal, and then some of our newer songs are strait up tech/death metal. Honestly we don't try to worry where we fit into a genre, we just do what comes naturally. Usually the guitarist and I jam off each other when we write, or someone will come in with a riff or whatever and we will build off that.
My influences are pretty wide, everything from Strapping Young Lad to 70's prog/fusion. I'd have to say tho that my favorite bands are tech/prog metal; Atheist, Cynic, Spiral Architect, Death, Lykanthea Aflame, Necrophagist, Morbid Angel, ect.
Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax will all share the same stage for the first time EVER! Look for the four of them at the Sonisphere shows in Warsaw, Poland and Prague, Czech Republic on June 16 and 19, 2010.
The world wide web has been abound with speculation on a possible "BIG FOUR" tour for several months. Now, SONISPHERE can exclusively reveal that METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX will play together for the first time in history, in a move that will have metalheads across the globe frenzied with excitement.

Looks like I am going to Europe this summer after all! I can't miss this, but I have no one to go with. CP Trip? Haha
Excellent news regardless.
Also, Kalmah will be releasing a new album soon, and yes, they are the greatest band.
i had never gotten into these guys before, and the vocals threw me off a bit at first. but once i got used to them i found the whole sound quite awesome, almost like a heavier Motorhead

Hey, bump my Kalmah post. They put "For the Revolution" behind them and made a solid CD.
I actually bought their new cd (I haven't bought a CD in 7 years), it kicks so much ass. Rust Never Sleeps, Bullets are Blind, 12 Gauge, Sacramentum. omg so epic!
I so hope they come to Canada! Hit #32 in the Hard Rock charts in Canada. COME TO CALGARY!
Has anyone besides me ever listened to Cadacross? They only put out 2 cd's before splitting up because a member died, but they are 2 of the best quality cd's I have ever listened to. Almost every song on both discs is a 10/10.
Im not a huge fan of Kalmah, I bought For the Revolution and didn't find anything really memorable about them. Kinda like Children of Bodom meets a subdued version of Amon Amarth... not my cup of tea anyways.
This thread needs some thrash! ...aaand maybe some old school grind.
Devin Townsend is my ultimate metal and audio engineering hero. I have every album he's ever done, produced, or played on.
The new album is weak, imo. And it has a straight up radio friendly song on it when his philosophy for his whole (amazingly successful) career has been "mainstream acceptance makes me want to puke."
A good effort for anyone else, but for Devin Townsend, this album is FML.

Don't cast your judgement of Kalmah on "For the Revolution" it is by far their weakest album, by far.
They Will Return, Swampsong, Swamplord are all much much better, actually they are all epic.
