Half Life Alyx is amazing. I've previously played games in PSVR, but yeah...this finger tracking stuff? This !@#$ is bananas.
...except for some reason now one of my base stations doesn't seem to connect...Looks like I've got a DOA base station and the headset won't run updates, this isn't exactly an impressive out of box experience. Support case with Valve opened.
*Headset issue was caused by running NZXT CAM software. Uninstalled that, and the headset updated without issue.
*Base station is DOA. Valve is shipping me a replacement.

Started to put together my machine in the new case, pretty nice case to work with. Considering it would have been almost $200 to get matching case fans I tried some cheap Amazon fans and to be honest they're pretty good. I don't intend to run them very fast so they're fine, and they look decent enough.
Set to pull from the bottom and exhaust up the top, and the AIO also pulls to get cool air for the CPU, but not sure if that's the best setup.
Had some bubbling noise from the pump early on but that seems to have resolved, I can't really hear it now.
That's not the final video card, and I think I'd like to get some nice cable extensions or replacements.

What case is that? I don't think you've mentioned it.
Nice looking build. The keyboard sticks out like a sore thumb though.
Ideally your AIO hoses would be on the bottom but since the pump is lower then air shouldn't collect there. If you do hear bubbling in the future I would reverse it.

It's a Lian Li 011 Dynamic mini. Cool little case, about the smallest case I've seen take a full sized ATX motherboard. I really liked the regular one but it seems like so much empty space. And the regular one has a 150mm height limit on air coolers (at the time I was going to go with an air cooler), which excludes all the best tower air coolers.
Hah that's just my spare wired keyboard for building computers or if my wireless one dies or something. I normally use a Microsoft Surface Ergonomic keyboard.
Yeah I saw that video by Gamers Nexus as the supplementary video by JayZ, as long as the top of the rad is higher than the pump I should be ok, and after a bit of bubbling at first I tilted it around like it would guide any bubbles away from the pump to the rad and it's been quiet since then.
I did try the other way but the hoses looked kind of awkward under a bit of tension from the video card.
If I switch to a vertical mount for the GPU that would probably alleviate that.
If I went with a mATX or ITX motherboard I could have put a 360mm rad at the top too, but I was thinking of air cooling so went with the ATX.
Now I have to try and clean up the fan and RGB cables.

Yeah I ended up ordering some Noctua paste from Amazon. Thermal Grizzly stuff is probably a bit better but I either had to order a huge amount or wait a month.

^Couldn't Memex spot you a tube due to your ordeal? I'm sure if you posted about it on r/calgary half of their employees would be stumbling over themselves to help you out
Yeah although if I went through all that id just say eff it and drive back to the store for what I needed instead of going through the whole ordering online and waiting a few more days or so. I can also see if this is a passion project and you want the best of the best and squeeze a couple dozen Mhz out of the build then yeah, to each his own.
P.S. Lapping the die can yield better results than spending $XX more on thermal compound
The Following User Says Thank You to Sluggo For This Useful Post:
There's no way I would go through the effort of die lapping with a Ryzen chip; the fact that the pins are on the chip makes the whole process exponentially more dangerous and prone to error.
With AMD still using pins I just want to get the thing out of the clamshell and seated in the mobo as soon as humanly possible.

I would have gone back to the store if I didn't live so far from it. Next day delivery by Amazon is more convenient, plus I probably won't get time to swap the CPUs until the weekend anyway (though it is just sitting there LOOKING at me begging to be installed).

Fellas
What's the cheapest 27" monitor, with vertical stand that you've seen?
I don't need anything fancy, just want it to be my second monitor for reading etc;
Unfortuantely, haven't been able to find any way to easily identify whether a stand can rotate 90 degrees, to allow vertical display
