Oldboy by Park Chan-Wook
Do you know how I know it can't be improved upon? Because they tried to with American directors and actors, and it was utter dog#### in comparison. And we aren't talking about no-talent hacks. It was Spike Lee directing people like Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen, Sam Jackson, and notable appearances by Rami Malek and Michael Imperioli.
The original is absolute perfection. You will also never be the same after seeing it.

Reaching further back, the original 12 Angry Men is damn perfect.

I love Heat. It’s my favourite crime action movie of all time. But it’s not perfect, I think it was a big heavy handed in some respect, especially foreshadowing multiple time how Neil Macauley was going to die because he couldn’t let go of a past issue. “Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner”

Not a huge Costner fan but I think it would be impossible to make Field of Dreams any better than it is.
James Earl Jones was amazing as well.

Lots of great choices in here. For me if I had to pick one perfect film, its Pulp Fiction.

6th Sense. The ending of that film changed my view on twist endings forever.
Kung Pow is the greatest comedy of all time and the only movie I ever immediately restarted the movie afterwatching it.
Drive. Awesome story with an even better sound track.

Evil Dead wasn't quite perfect, so they went ahead a made Evil Dead 2. I think that the Oscars might have a bias against camp.

I can always re-watch "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". It's best when a movie has poor special effects to begin with, that way when you look at it again in the future nothing catches your eye as needing to be touched up. Movie studios need to take this into account when employing any special effects. What was revolutionary in 1995 isn't necessarily going to look good in 2020.

have to disagree with Gangs of New York, only because of Cameron Diaz.
if you could digitally replace her, then the movie would be perfect.
I want to add
Platoon
Full Metal Jacket
The Terminator
Escape from New York.

Aliens is a 100% perfect sci-fi movie. I could watch this movie weekly.
Dunkirk was just about perfect.
Mad Max: Fury Road is absolutely perfect, perfect in every way.

Seriously. This is so obvious it should have been in the thread title.
There have been a lot of really good movies that obviously shouldn't be re-made listed in here but I don't know I'd call any of them "perfect" in a similar way to Casablanca, other than, arguably, Shawshank. There's a sort of polish to them. You pretty much have to find a film that's not too ambitious, and then takes its material and knocks it clear out of the park. Which is a formula that applies to Princess Bride, but it's still not without its flaws, charming as they may be.
Maybe 12 Angry Men?

Three Kings, a movie that hits a lot of topics. I love it.
Hunt For Red October, Sean's delivery is on point.
