Massive Propgandhi fan here, they're quite possibly my favorite band of all time regardless of where they are from. They were in rare form on their last swing through, fresh off an Eastern tour and firing on all cylinders, tight as hell. The new album just crushes, very rare that bands get better with every release.
Matthew Good
The Trews
The Hip
April Wine
Rush
Trooper
Loverboy
Lee Aaron
Neil Young
Classified
Honourable Mention
Streetheart
Harlequin
Edit: I used to think George Thorogood was Canadian for some reason, and I used to have him pretty high on my list of "Canadian" acts. Of course, the acid eventually wore off and I figured out he's a dirty American.
Top Canadian musician is Eric Clapton (his father was a WWII soldier from Montreal). I know it's more of a technicality and doesn't really count but it's a fun fact to know.
My current favorite is probably Chromeo (also from Montreal), the jokingly self-proclaimed only successful Arab/Jewish partnership since the dawn of human culture

So yes that is my favorite Canadian band if you get past all the bleached hair 80s glam stuff, their first album (and some of their later albums) have some really amazingly good music.
Off the top of my head real quick, probably forgetting a couple major ones but:
Rush
The Tragically Hip
Tom Cochrane/Red Rider
Our Lady Peace
Neil Young
The Guess Who
Metric
Hot Hot Heat
Moist
Tegan And Sara
HM: The late great Stompin' Tom Connors
Edit: Oh ####, Bryan Adams and Leonard Cohen

Propagandhi, the Smalls and NoMeansNo in the first two posts?
Respect! That goes for me as well, but there's really quite a lot of good Canadian stuff out there, not the least of which are some of the folk and country artists.
