Oh yeah, I forgot about Nomeansno.

Everything! You would! Forget! Beneath... THE TOWER!

Oh man, now I have to listen to it.

Massive Propgandhi fan here, they're quite possibly my favorite band of all time regardless of where they are from. They were in rare form on their last swing through, fresh off an Eastern tour and firing on all cylinders, tight as hell. The new album just crushes, very rare that bands get better with every release.

Propagandhi.

Random order:

Matthew Good
The Trews
The Hip
April Wine
Rush
Trooper
Loverboy
Lee Aaron
Neil Young
Classified

Honourable Mention
Streetheart
Harlequin

Edit: I used to think George Thorogood was Canadian for some reason, and I used to have him pretty high on my list of "Canadian" acts. Of course, the acid eventually wore off and I figured out he's a dirty American.

Top Canadian musician is Eric Clapton (his father was a WWII soldier from Montreal). I know it's more of a technicality and doesn't really count but it's a fun fact to know.

My current favorite is probably Chromeo (also from Montreal), the jokingly self-proclaimed only successful Arab/Jewish partnership since the dawn of human culture

Everybody loves their version of Not in Love with Robert Smith but the best version is the original by Platinum Blonde. If I could combine the Platinum Blonde version with Robert Smith's vocals (love the original bassline and guitars) it'd be perfect.

So yes that is my favorite Canadian band if you get past all the bleached hair 80s glam stuff, their first album (and some of their later albums) have some really amazingly good music.

In addition to those mentioned, Dire Straights.

Going to see Trooper May 11.

Love the Guess Who, v. 1 not the current band.

Drank beer with Neil Young.

holy s***

Propagandhi, the Smalls and NoMeansNo in the first two posts?

Respect! That goes for me as well, but there's really quite a lot of good Canadian stuff out there, not the least of which are some of the folk and country artists.

Ian tyson
Leonard cohen
Gorden lightfoot

I even like BNL and Avril because i appreciate how they can write good pop hooks.

Brian Adams is growing on me..

Interestingly, im not a fan of the Hip, but when i travel for long periods, their music is something i want to hear as soon as i am back

Top 3 have no particular order, but they are in a league of their own. I find it amazing that my 3 favourite musical artists are all from such a small country (population wise).

Leonard Cohen (84 songs)
Sarah McLachlan (106 songs)
Alanis Morissette (85 songs)

Followed by:
Bruce Cockburn (31 songs)
Tara MacLean (29 songs)
Tragically Hip (28 songs)
Melanie Doane (22 songs)
Gordon Lightfoot (20 songs)
54-40 (18 songs)
Neil Young (18 songs)

Honourable Mentions:
Tegan and Sara (14 songs), Furnaceface (14 songs), Loreen McKennit (20 songs), Grapes of Wrath (16 songs), k.d. Lang (11 songs), Chantal Kreviazuk (28 songs), Corey Hart (9 songs), Colin James (9 songs), BNL (14 songs), Rankin Family(27 songs), Blue Rodeo (11 songs)

Canadian songs in my "Songs I'd give 20 stars to if I could" playlist not by artists above:
Barracuda - Heart (if you consider Heart Canadian)
Knockin' on Heaven's Door - Avril Lavigne
Love Myself Today - Bif Naked
Rise Up - Parachute Club
