That stress relief and appreciation you feel after getting out of a crappy vehicle like a U-Haul and back into your own car.

Reminded again today that although my boys are never going to be all stars at lacrosse, they get a ton out of it. Both have taken it to heart that it is important to be coachable, and they are both mature and leaders on their teams. I figure that will take them further in life than a lot of things.

My oldest got chosen as an alternate captain in his third week as a junior lacrosse rookie today. Tough game, super chippy opponent, and he was a real leader out there. Stayed out of the box, looked out for his teammates, and scored a couple of goals for good measure.

As a step-dad of a couple of teen boys, I worry constantly that they are staying out of trouble and on track for a decent future. Days like today show me that we are doing at least a couple of things right as parents.

Sometimes it little things. New sock day makes me happy. I love the first wearing of a new pair of socks. One of these years I am going to buy 365 pairs socks and wear a new pair every day.

Finally booked going back to India to knock off some places I badly wanted to see the first time, but didn't have time. Gonna combine some Himalayan stuff, South India stuff, and finally some bouldering and sight seeing in Hampi. Super stoked.

Going on my daughter's kindergarten field trip as a parent volunteer. I wasn't sure if I would like it but it was actually not bad. The trip was a success and everything went smooth. She had a blast too which was the most important part.
The thing that surprised me the most was that out of 28 volunteers, only 2 were guys including myself.

Poured a bowl of cheerios to finish the box and bowl of rice crispies for the kids this morning, figuring whoever got downstairs first could have the rice crispies (favoured by both of them). My son got down first and took the cheerios. When my daughter sat down at the table he said "I saved the rice crispies for you."

Fool, doesn't he know no good deed goes unpunished?

I love when I "catch" my kids being nice to either other for no reason other than they love each other.

What does it say about me that I expected the first one down to grab the rice crispies?

One of the unanticipated joys of being a parent.

$34 bucks in items and qualified for free shipping on Amazon instead of having to adding $1 in junk to qualify for free shipping.

The full regular price of a lightning deal apparently qualifies towards free shipping due to the way they changed the invoicing. I think I learned today, if something is $36 bucks and lightning deal below $35, I should still get free shipping without adding anything. $25 threshold for prime members, but same idea.

On that note, Amazon prime makes me happy. 1 day shipping is great

I forgot laundry detergent getting groceries, so last night I bought a big 4 litre on Amazon for $10. First thing this morning it was on my doorstep

I'm going to be a part of a funded Kickstarter, so that's pretty cool.

Project is called The Quick.

(It's a Nordic Noir horror tabletop RPG. I think it's going to be very cool.)

Also, new girlfriend. Hard to complain right now
