Still would've lost with Andersen scoring 0 goals.

Usually with these milestone goal pictures it's just the goal socrer and puck. I think he wanted those guys in that pic. I think he's a great team mate.

Not that I want to get dragged into this argument, but we're all no more able evaluate coaching than we are any other part of hockey. None of us here are "hockey men", but we have eyes and see horrible line management, game management, and the Flames seem to have some bad tendencies defending the blue line and in the neutral zone

The coaching stinks.

They had the assists right? That would make sense.

Neither guy on the Leafs is that fleet of foot so that probably helps, tends to struggle more head to head against speedsters like McDavid or Mackinnon.
Matthews looks fast to me.

I hope he got a pic for himself without the masks. I know it's for optics but they just sweated, spit, hugged, yelled for 60 minutes sans masks.

The start was a lot better than anything recently. So that was a nice change. Now we see if they can follow this up with an equal effort against the same team.

Those two saves by Rittich to stop a shorthanded goal against and then to come back down and get one likely made the game for the Flames. Hopefully Rittich csn finish strong, he will get a lot of starts yet.

My guess this situation is something like Andersen was not really hurt but the Leafs just wanting to put the backup in against a struggling team and blaming an injury instead of overtly disrespecting the Flames.
Or Tkachuk heard Pinder put Francis on the spot about running Johnny out of town and wanted to prove a point for Johnny

Yeah... sorry. Wasn't specifically responding to this argument thread, just keep seeing comments about "how can you critique the [insert hockey subject here] when you aren't in the room/game/ice"

Like, we all are amateurs griping about a sport here...

It's somewhat surprising that Rittich's save percentage is now as high as Markstrom's.

This may shock you but we've only been playing games for 5 weeks.

Markstrom will rebound and improve his numbers. Too good not to.

But yes, many did say from the outset that we had one of the best tandems in the division. Rittich needed to log some minutes to get back in a groove but he certainly isn't just a scrub backup.

I'm going to guess this is just a reference to Monahan playing and Rittich starting. Outside chance it has something to do with Ward letting the guys have some say in the lines again and that if they can put together a good performance then the lines can stay that way for now.
