And with that, CP lost its ability to control the City of Calgary.

Bunk, you've been a great sport for opening yourself up for use and abuse at the public forum. I think regardless of what people here thought of Nenshi and his work at the City of Calgary, most if not all of us greatly appreciated your honesty and integrity in providing the information and answering questions patiently, no matter how small or serious, smart or silly, boring or provocative they were. Thank you very much for that and I wish you all the best in your next career move. Let us know when and where you settle.

I just wanted to thank you for opening this thread and being so accessible for CP! I know that there must have been days when you got home from work and just wanted an escape, only to come on here and go through the same issues as you dealt with at work and were tired of talking about.
Also, way to go out at the top. Now you can always let Naheed and those guys know that after you they were never the best mayor in the world! (presumably)

Congrats Bunk - thanks for the insights!
so.... to make this about me and be selfish... can we still post general city questions here where fellow CP people may be able to answer?

Stay tuned. If I can get someone to take over best to keep this thread open. If not, perhaps a new "City questions" thread or something. Lots of people have insights and seem to be able to accurately answer questions based on their knowledge and experience.

I've got it... Bunk is going to be the liaison between the city and the Flames on the new arena project.
That's it, isn't it?

Hey Bunk can you ask the 'new guy to be named later' what it is they are building at the Douglasdale power substation?
And good luck in your new endeavor.

He'd probably find us a very refreshing change from the folks he has to reply to day in and day out on the Mayors facebook page. Some incredibly dumb comments/questions/accusations on there.
I seriously don't know how he has done it for so long and with such a zen like calmness.

Here's hopefully a simple question.
If I have overflow garbage, the city will often pick up the excess bags, but if I have excess recycling/cardboard, they will not.
I feel like this creates a situation where I'd rather throw something recyclable out since I don't have to make a separate trip. Sure, this is on me for being lazy but I'm curious whether this is a city mandated thing or just my garbage men being real gems.

Technically, City garbage and recycling teams are supposed to just pick up what fits in the black or blue bins. If you have extra, you're supposed to hold onto it until the next pickup. So, your garbage guys are being nice to you by throwing in the extra bags (which I assume is not a weekly occurrence). But, I think the real issue here is that you bagged your recycling. Recycled materials need to be loose to be sorted and they won't open bags at the facility. So, if you have extra recycling, you can either bring it to a depot yourself or hold onto it for the next pickup. Here's more more info.
