Francis: Stone could be back soon
during the 1st intermission:
Stone is meeting with the doctors in the next week
says he talked to Stone and Stone says he physically feels fine
asked Stone if the clots are career threatening and Stone said no

I worry about Stone. If he has to go on blood thinners, then that could very well be the end of his career. I would love to see him back as added depth for a playoff run, though.

Good. Need him for depth down the stretch. The quintessential defensive player every team would be looking for to rent when looking to load up for a long run. Especially with the young and inexperienced guys we currently have back there.
Hopefully the issue is past him and being on blood thinners hasn’t taken too much out of him.

Why would that end his career?

He is on blood thinners but could be off them as soon as next week. Then hopefully a conditioning stint in Stockon.

That's like adding a rental.

And for next year too. Which could be a negative I suppose, but they can use him this year no doubt.

Like adding a rental with draft day value.

It becomes too risky if your blood can't clot. You can treat a cut, but things like undetected internal bleeding can occur, amngst other complications.

But he’s not on them forever. He’s treating a clot. He will be off them soon.

I took it more as if he had to stay on blood thinners to prevent future clots. If he can get off them, then I imagine it's all good.

Stone is easily a bottom-pairing guy who can slot into a #4D role if needed.
Prout is an AHLer.
I'd put it more like Stone >>> Prout.

It could be a treatment like aspirin which would not be dangerous at all. Even low dose heparin wouldn't stop him from playing.

Awesome, he's gonna be a key factor for our deadline deal with Ottawa.
Either as an added reason for the Flames to get his brother or more likely part of the deal to the Sens that gets Duchene and helps the Sens re-sign Mark.
I can hope right!

Oilers make one-for-one trade, Calgary make Stone-for-Stone trade?
