Manchester United expect Zlatan Ibrahimovic to sign a new contract to stay at Old Trafford as early as this week, sources have told ESPN FC.

Free agent Ibrahimovic, 35, is recovering from a knee ligament injury sustained in a Europa League match against Anderlecht in April which was expected to keep him out until 2018.

The new contract will be announced earlier than anticipated due to the former Sweden international's quick recovery.

certainly not his biggest fan, but having him as Lukakus backup would be amazing.

If this game weren't at Wembley he probably would have saved it.

Chelsea didn't look good today at all. I know they got the result, and I'm sure we'll hear how masterful Conte was or something like that, but they were outplayed. Can't believe the goal for the win though. That's just horrible.

That was an impressive three-goal game by Chelsea.

You cant really lose since theres no transfer fee, you're just paying his wages and he can still play.

Its wins all around.

if he knows and accepts the backup role. Otherwise it's a recipe for disaster.

Poor by Wanyama, and whoever else that was who let Alonso run through completely unmarked. Poor by Lloris too.

Well it was a bad idea by Lloris to begin with, then not great from Wanyama and finally Lloris ought to have made that stop. Just a disappointing sequence all around to let Chelsea have the three points. I think Wanyama wasn't match for and looked exhausted...so frankly that's partly on Pochettino.

It's not the end of the world though. We dropped a few points in August. Obviously there is a long time before there are concerns. I thought they played really well for the most part though, and while a win would have been nice, they're going to be just fine.

I'd agree. Spurs looked the better club, but -- to overuse the cliche' - didn't get the bounces.. You get those games. Dust yourself off, and move on.

Inevitably, Rooney makes it 1-0 against Citeh.

And Walker just picked up 2 yellows.
Just gets better

This ref isn't having the best game though. That second yellow seemed harsh, and his yellow to Davies for diving was off the mark too

What did Walker do to get sent off? Anything of significance?

nah I thought it was harsh: https://streamable.com/tl6fk

unless he said something to the ref, of course.

EDIT: I thought Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been impressive again, seems like a proper talent. Everton have a few of those at the moment (him, Lookman, Holgate).

Wow, that was ridiculously weak. Still funny to see the 50m man sent off in the first half of his home debut though.

I hope the FA will indeed punish divers this season. Hopefully they'll have a good luck at what Agüero and Otamendi did in the second half. Pathetic stuff.
