thought it would be time to start a thread about any concerts or festivals that are happening this year.
Or not happening as we're not through Covid yet.
Thinking about it as I've been going to the Edmonton Folk Music Festival for over 30 years.
Looks like it's likely not happening this year either. not in the traditional sense.
"The chances of us having a perfectly regular folk fest are slim, says festival director Terry Wickham. To go ahead, “My belief is that a vaccine has to be widely distributed — the numbers have to fall dramatically in order for people to have confidence to gather in large numbers. Vaccination by the 30th of September will likely not fit our timeline — think of the logistical challenges — but I will keep an open mind for now.
“If the festival can’t go ahead, then I hope we can gather in smaller numbers, for example 250 or so, then I would hope we could set up some stages in communities and bring live music to people.”

While the the festival is usually in August, they'd be working now for the lineup and signing contracts. Likely not work the risk, especially if a) you can't have large gatherings b) people might not be ready for large gatherings.
Even if the majority of adult have been vaccinated, I don't think I'd be in the headspace to hang out on a hill with 12,000 people. also considering at least a third or more under 18 who didn't get vaccinated at all.
