Hughes certainly belongs on Tour but we was punching well above his weight on that final day. Still a top 15 in the US Open is nothing to be embarrassed about.

Hard to believe we have completed 3 majors already. Not sure i like this new schedule, in three weeks, majors season is done.

The US Senior Open is this weekend on the Champions Tour. Ames and Weir are in the top 10.

There was a time this tournament was something you’d plan to watch. I had no idea it was going on this weekend, Champions Tour really fading from relevance.

I'm surprised by the low scoring in round 1 especially because it looks like the wind is blowing pretty significantly.

Well the low scoring was for the early tee offs only, things looking much harder for the late groups.

It's more fun now that the wind has picked up. But the course still looks too green for the Open. Also, I don't like seeing the greens so receptive - I like seeing players having to hit their approaches short of the green and count on the run out to get close to the pin.

So Dechambeau blames his equipment....cause its never his fault.

"I said it yesterday or a couple days ago. If I can hit it down the middle of the fairway, that's great," he said. "But with the driver right now, the driver sucks."

"It's not a good face for me and we're still trying to figure out how to make it good on the mis-hits. I'm living on the razor's edge, like I've told people for a long time. When I did get it outside of the fairway, like in the first cut and what not, I catch jumpers out of there and I couldn't control my wedges.

"It's literally the physics and the way that they build heads now. It's not the right design, unfortunately, and we've been trying to fix it, just haven't had the results yet."

So Cobra, the manufacturer, responds...

“Everybody is bending over backwards. We’ve got multiple guys in R&D who are CAD’ing (computer-aided design) this and CAD-ing that, trying to get this and that into the pipeline faster. (Bryson) knows it,” Schomin said. “It’s just really, really painful when he says something that stupid.”

“He has never really been happy, ever. Like, it’s very rare where he’s happy,” Schomin said. “Now he’s in a place where he’s swinging a 5-degree driver with 200 mph of ball speed. Everybody is looking for a magic bullet. Well, the magic bullet becomes harder and harder to find the faster you swing and the lower your loft gets.”

Schomin also said, “It’s like an 8-year-old that gets mad at you. They might fly off the handle and say, ‘I hate you.’ But then you go. ‘Whoa, no you don’t.’ We know as adults that they really don’t mean that and I know that if I got him cornered right now and said, ‘What the hell did you say that for,’ he would say that he was mad. He didn’t really mean to say it that harshly. He knows how much everyone bends over backwards for him, but it’s still not cool.”
