I'm a huge fan of these high-skill players, but Pelletier was probably my least favourite out of these guys available.
The Flames have always been awful at drafting/developing from the QMJHL. But they've also been great at developing this type of player.
Makes me wonder how things will turn out.

Fast on his edges and a very intense, high motor player, just not much in the way of straight line speed

Let’s face it. Almost no one on here has seen more than highlights. Guys look awesome in highlights.
But does sound like a couple people watched him play live.

I think this is much more important than straight-line speed.

Anyone know why Kaliyev has dropped so much. RW position was needed?

I agree, and that's not to say he's slow by any means, just not a speedster. I wouldn't say it's a weakness

Anyways I'm glad they took a skilled offensive forward. Looking forward to following his progress.

Drafting for position, in my opinion, does not often work out well. Teams do better when they pick the best players available.

Some posters were saying they heard the Flames weren't going to pick him, didn't interview well, questions about work ethic

And a poor combine which only reinforced the concerns.

Expanding on brief though from the draft thread:
Nice pick by the Flames again. Had Pelletier 22nd. Hard to fault the Flames not going for the risky grand slam (Kaliyev, Brink, Dorofeyev) given their lack of picks the past couple years. Mats Zuccarollo.

Many would say he was the best available.

I like the pick, but man that's a boatload of LWers.
I'm sure it'll sort itself out by the time he makes the team though.
