Do you agree?

The parallels with Nigel Farage who has screwed the UK with Brexit are impressive, Farage is a jumped up middle class social climber who was rejected by the Tories when he tried to join the posh boys from Eton, his whole arc of destruction has been him trying to force his way into the upper classes and them laughing at him and tring to use him to their own ends

I disagree on all if this. Even if he is elected, he can’t pardon himself on state convictions.

Even for state convictions I bet that any conviction would come with a sentence that avoids jail, or the governor would commute the sentence, or whatever.

The riots and violence that resulted from a jailed Trump probably wouldn't be worth the benefit.

Also a funny reminder on how dumb Trump is, he thinks because he was impeached over Jan 6 facing federal or state charges on it would be double jepoardy...

I think he figures the State charges in NY wont be successful or his sentence will be minimal. He may end up being right on that front sadly.

Its all about pushing this thing to post election so if he manages to win he can corruptly use his powers to pardon himself. Slime ball thru and thru. Not a shred of decency in that man. And yet millions of people support the guy, its hard to believe this is real life.

I contend that it’s worth the risk to preserve the democracy and rule of law, and to show that even a president isn’t above the law.

I have my doubts that the riots and violence would happen. His supporters saw what happened with Jan 6th and the many that got convicted and sent to prison. I doubt any of them would want to test the justice system again.

There can be no appeasement.

There is likely to be threats of violence regardless. Either retaliatory, or the cult emboldened to push their MAGA agenda further.

Trump is a chaos agent.

That is based on the failed assumption that these are sane rational people who understand the concept of actions and consequences.

He could run and be elected president in prison though so a conviction and jail doesn't really accomplish more than a conviction and some other non-jail sentence would. Jail or not a conviction shows that a president isn't above the law and will be a deterrent to rational presidential candidates not named Trump.

But I don't totally disagree with you.

What if the sentencing included an agreement to never run for public office again? That's the actual consequence that I'd want.

The guy's a McNugget away from a massive coronary episode. Add in the emotional stress.

Just saying.

Are you sure? You may want to consider the below.

Quote:
WASHINGTON (AP) — Former President Donald Trump’s calls for protests before his anticipated indictment in New York have generated mostly muted reactions from supporters, with even some of his most ardent loyalists dismissing the idea as a waste of time or a law enforcement trap.
Quote:
John Scott-Railton, a senior researcher at Citizen Lab who has tracked the “Stop the Steal” movement online, said anxiety over being entrapped by so-called agent provocateurs feeds a “paranoia that if they go and do violence, they may get caught and there may be consequences.

“It seems to reduce a lot of people’s willingness to make big statements about being willing to go out” and engage in violence, he said.

Ghouls always seem to live surprisingly long, just look at Strom Thurmond. Maybe they're able to feed off of their hatred like a Sith

I dream of that day but the daily hamburgers and fries accompanied by those sugar-laden Cokes haven’t got him yet.

He'd need to actually have a heart for that to happen.

^^Democrats generally think that if Bidens committed a crime they should be prosecuted. When Trump does he’s revered and celebrated. One’s a cult and the other isn’t.
