I saw this post and it made me think:

We are moving back to Calgary in Sept, and I wonder what have I missed?
How has the city changed in 6 years.
Boogies in the south will be on my list of good changes.
What are the good restaurants, bad restaurants, hidden gems.
Best places to buy ski equipment (2 kids and a wife need outfitting)?
In short, What have I missed?

For ski equipment, we have used the ski-cellar a few times. You can make arrangements to go there 30 minutes or so before the store opens on the weekend, so the staff can spend more time with you, getting you fitted etc.
Sbarro's pizza in south ctr mall is the best. Be careful crossing the c-train tracks, as people are constantly being hit by trains

Spinelli Italian Centre on Fairmont Drive SE has what I think is the best pizza in the city, and all sorts of other goodies.

When I had my buddy visit for the first time in 6 years he marveled at the new overpasses at Deerfoot and Stony Trail North. So there's that, I guess.

Seniores pizza near beddington and deerfoot is the best donair pizza in the city. OEB (over easy breakfast) is great but super busy. Telus spark is fun when there's a good exhibit and take the kids to see the new ish penguin exhibit.

Seniores is pretty awesome. I just wish they would get some lids for the sauce. Everytime I open the box when I get home; sauce everywhere.

This is an excellent suggestion. Excellent meats, cheeses and foods in general. They also sell some very nice steaks.
Not cheap mind you.

It's worth a trip just to drool over the cheese wall.

Village Ice Cream. I kitted myself and the wife for cross country skis a few years ago at Norseman Outdoor Specialist. Relatively small but locally owned. Also the lemurs at the zoo are a good time.

You have to check out the blue ring up north. We got a deal at half a million dollars. No there's no lights on it or anything like they have in Houston. Just the ring.

You can stand in line for a hour or 2 to get an ice cream cone at Made By Marcus on 17th Ave.
It is a hilarious site until you realize you are one of the suckers standing in the same line.
15 minutes later you can give up and try Village Ice Cream in Vic Park. When you see the line is just as bad, spend 5 minutes driving to the Britannia location which will have no line.

There are lights on it. They are just streetlights that look so comically out of place on the huge blue ring.

"Punch everyone who complains about the ring in the grundle week" is like, waayyyyy better than the stampede. Also, there is really good breakfast on Edmonton trail. But like, PUNCH those losers in the grundle. For a WEEK.
