Menyatai is not bad but I wish they use a bigger bowl and make their soup a little hotter. Good gyoza there too.

Burger 320 (that burger place in bridgeland) has opened a new location in Kensington!
Looks like they've expanded their menu to include waffles and drinking chocolate

Went to the open house for the Minto residential development proposed for 9A Street just south of the LRT station. 104 residential units, 26m tall.
Personally I like it, simple, only two colours, designed to be timeless in my opinion. It will be a good complement to the area with different midrises nearby like St. John's, Lido, and Pixel.

Does anyone know what the development plan is for the stretch of homes along Memorial directly west of the Kensington Inn?

Actually Saturday is the final night of it. I haven't gone in years though. Lot 102/Oak Tree are my go to places now.

Owned by Anthem (the folks that are doing Waterfront in Eau Claire/Chinatown). 93 units, you can view the Development Permit at the Hillhurst-Sunnyside Community Centre during office hours. I'm hoping to check it out soon.

We need to keep adding residents to Hillhurst-Sunnyside to help support the business' in the area and to ensure the communities have a good mix of all demographics. These last few years of development (Pixel, Lido, Ven, St. John's, Palfreyville, The Kensington, Ezra, and many infills) are hopefully just the beginning.

Hopefully I move away from the area by then. It's already a disaster travel wise.

I think it depends on where you live. I am on the far east side. I can go north via 4th Ave, South and East via Memorial/Deerfoot, west via 5th Ave.
I never go Kensington, what a mess except for weekday evenings.

Tomorrow am I'll upload pictures of the Anthem proposal going in west of the Kensington Riverside Inn.
5 storeys, 93 units. It's ok, but for such a prominent location I was hoping for something a little more daring. Think Bella Citta or Bella Lusso in The Bridges, or the recently completed Ven in Sunnyside but with more brick.

City to launch $4.5 million facelift for Calgary's trendy Kensington neighbourhood
http://www.calgarysun.com/2016/04/04...mvdsivU.mailto
Public realm improvement work for the a vibrant inner-city business zone known for its unique local shops, bars and restaurants, will start this week with crews replacing crumbling sidewalks, sick and dying trees and installing LED streetlights and pedestrian lights.
In addition, the city and its partner, the Kensington Business Revitalization Zone (BRZ), will install new trash cans, bike racks and benches along 10 St. N.W. (between Memorial Dr. and 5 Ave. N.W.) and on Kensington Road from 10 St. and 14 St. N.W.
The project will be done in one block phases, each taking two to three weeks, starting April 4 and ending in October, according to the city.

Was wondering what was going on as a lot of the trees I pass on the walk to work are slated to be destroyed.

Just curious didn't they rip up the sidewalks and replace the lamps last fall? Was that just one phase?

They did one blockface (east side of 10th between 2nd and 3rd) of this project last fall. Picking it up to the rest of the district this year.
A welcome renovation, the sidewalks are in rough shape after about 30 years since they were last done when the BRZ was established.
