From the sounds of the AMerican Politics thread, it sounds like I made a grave mistake not putting a bunker under my pad. 3/8" chip board offers reasonable protection from a nuclear blast, right?
I do have a ~100 lb fire rated entry door salvaged from a bank though, so at least one piece should survive.

Looks pretty good. Only advice right now would be to get water and mould resistant drywall if you plan on finishing the interior. Reason for that is that you'll have panels touching the slab directly on most of the walls.

Ya, it was going to be about an extra $1000, I'm fine with skipping it. We don't use our vehicles all that often so it shouldn't be to bad. I'll find a way to protect the bottom layer a bit.
Go the rest of the sheeting done and a few more bits and pieces. Now I'm at the mercy of an electrician, Enmax and the electrical inspection timing before I can do the roof. Fingers crossed. Probably be 2 weeks before we can do the roof though, because Enmax won't book the switch over until the city inspection is done, and they are booking 6 days out right now...sigh.

Pony wall is only in the one corner? What is the reasoning behind that?

The grade on that side will be higher. I'll do a step down the sidewalk to pad level on that corner, and the sidewalk will slope down towards the back. I did want it on all sides originally, but like I mentioned, I cut it for budget reasons. Concrete ain't cheap, yo!

I think a flat pad of this size would be around 9-10k. Because I needed a footing and wall for the back half, it brought the price up quite a bit. They also had to remove 2 dump trucks of dirt, a bunch of old concrete and 3 tree stumps. Along with the concrete, you need rebar, gravel, and rather expensive 5 10 mil plastic., plus the weeping tile. I think it all adds up rather quickly.

Thanks, when I bought my new place the builder poured the pad but I was wanting to make an addition to it before building my garage, so I'm guess it'll cost me around $2000 to add the extra 10% of space, depending how much the labour costs for attaching the addition to the existing pad.

That's a healthy price but not outrageous since it included all the labour and prep work. Concrete cost alone would have been about $5000.

It ended up being about $1500 cheaper than the original estimate, and was still cheaper than the 2 others estimates, the top one being about $19000 so I'm fairly confident I didn't overpay to much. Plus he started within a week, which is valuable in it's own right! The 2 other concrete guys I had over helping build said they did a really good job finishing. It's also a solid 5"( I measured several places to make sure it wasn't skimped anywhere) pad becuase the engineer specified it. I think most are 4".

Ya, so was I when I started! Keep in mind mine was more complicated than a basic pad though.

Lost of little things going on. My sparky got the panel all prepped this week, and the city inspected on Friday. With any luck Enmax will disconnect the house, and hook up the garage on Monday, then my sparky can connect the underground line to the house. Talking to Enmax felt like I was dealing with a chemist to setup a root canal though, They were clueless as to this simple procedure and how I would make it happen. I think I spoke to 5 different departments. I just want a new 200A meter, disconnect the house, and connect to the garage with 200A service! Not really looking for magic here. So fingers crossed it works out tomorrow.
So we wrapped the walls, put foam insulation on most parts of the pad/concrete walls, buried the weeping tile, moved a crap load of clay around for the driveway/grading and a little bit more prep work. You can see the trusses are waiting patiently for the power line to go away. I should have a crew organized for next weekend, so if all goes well I'll have some pics of that for next Sunday night. Then the doors/windows on the long weekend, and a well deserved 2.5 week vacation after that!

I'm curious - when I had my overhead service relocated from the house to the existing garage (including moving the meter) - my electrician did it all. It was inspected by the City, but I don't recall Enmax having to do the work.
Could your electrician not have done all the work?
