RFA Re-signing. Deadline, Tuesday July 5, 11:59 PM MST
Folks here are the instructions for re-signing your RFAs.
- If a player is signed for this upcoming season - you don't need to worry about it. If a player is a free agent and 28 and under - the RFA grids apply.
- If a player does not have a gird amount you can sign them for the minimum (the amounts at the bottom of the list)
- RFAs are 2 way deals
- You can choose from the 1, 2 or 3 year numbers
- You MUST have enough cap space to re-sign your UFAs, but you do NOT need cap space to re-sign your RFAs
- Do not send UFA deals yet. That'll be the next step
NEXT STEPS:
- Submit the RFAs you wish to re-sign by Tuesday July 5th, 11:59 PM Calgary time.
- This should be done by emailing cphlufa the following (send it all in one email, not an email for each player). Please follow this format.
- The name of the player be signed, OVR, number of years you are signing them to, and the corresponding grid amount.
- A list of players you are NOT re-signing and therefore want released
- Please include any ECHLers that have 0 years remaining. You can also sign other ECHlers with term remaining but there is no deadline for this yet. ECHL contracts are based on where they were drafted in the NHL:
1st Round = Picks 1-10: $1.35 million, Picks 11-20: $1.15 million, Picks 21+: $1 million*
2nd Round = $0.75 million*
3rd Round and beyond = $0.5 million*
After RFA re-signing we will have UFA re-signing and then UFA bidding.
There is a lot in this post, so please read carefully and ask questions. No question is dumb. If you are confused, chances are someone else is.

RFA players don’t have to be called up to be re-signed (and for UFA signing purposes) if they are 24 or older correct? That is irrespective of their overall rating being higher than the waiver cut-off?
For example I have Andreas Johnsson who is 68 OVR and 27 years old. He is above the threshold rating wise, but is older than 23, so can stay in the AHL for his new contract signing.
On the other hand I also have Casey Mittlestadt who is also 68 OVR. He is 23 years old though, so has to be called up when I want to re-sign UFAs or participate in the bidding.

I have 2 ELC players that I plan to sign. Are their contracts based on where they were drafted in the CPHL or NHL? If it is CPHL, I'm not seeing where they were draft. How do I find that?
Also, I have a couple players not on the grid but I'm not seeing at the bottom of the list what their contracts would be. Is it league min $500k?

Sorry, just want to be super clear on this.
I will be bringing up a guy like Colton and O'Connor, but preferably after Free Agency.

I imagine regular waiver rules apply. 24 and older have to clear but I will let Jiri confirm

I process a few of these a day to get through them so don't panic if you don't see yours for a few days. Similarly, I know there are releases to catch up on. Those will come too.
