They're like the Molson Canadian coldshots (smaller can but 7%), makes them easier for public drinking. I prefer the Bud Shots to the Molson Canadian ones though (hate all things molson so I might be biased.)

And here's some background about the shady Minhas Brewery. Not even close to local, tax money stealing, shysters.

Support actual good beer. There are local breweries who are using tax subsidies to actually make beer here and provide jobs to calgarians like village brewery.

So what brands are theirs? Now I'm curious if I've bought some before.

They were on the news last week. They have opened a craft brewing place in town here. The reporter mentioned to him that criticism and he just pointed behind him to the (brand new not opened yet) facilities and said something like "We're brewing right here".

I'm not sure I have ever tried any of their beer. I'm kind of on a Steamwhistle kick right now.

I was in Toronto last weekend and went to the Steamwhistle Brewery after the Jays game. It'ss right outside of the Rogers Center. It's a pretty cool place, inside an old rail yard. They were actually handing out free mini pints too.

I tried to go there after a Jays game a couple years ago, but as I walked through the door they said they were closing for a private function.

That's unfortunate. We went there as soon as the game ended, and I'm glad we did. 5 or 10 minutes later and we would've been waiting half an hour in line to get in.

On another note, they're selling Calgary Beer again for the Stampede. This is the first time it'll be sold in the city for over 20 years.

That's been bugging me as well. Calgary Beer was "re-released" months ago, this is far from the "first time in 20 years", maybe the first time in 9 months?

Right on. Yeah, my dad has just sent me a Herald article on it today. Just assumed the article wouldn't be lying.

No worries, the article itself even contradicts itself:

Quote:
Darren Havelock has been pressing Molson to bring back Calgary Beer. After a test run in November, Molson is rolling out a bigger shipment in time for the Stampede’s centennial.

....

The beer, with its trademark horseshoe and buffalo logo, hasn’t been sold in the city it honours for more than 20 years.

Having said all that I'll probably pick up a case this time, gotta give the city's namesake a try, even though I'm sure it's nothing special.

Anyone tried Big Surf Beer that's made out of Kelowna? It's $7 for a 6-pack and tastes pretty damn good for a cheap beer. We took 4 flats of it to Boonstock and everyone there said they enjoyed it. Check it out!

I thought is was only out for a short time in November, a seasonal release.

Guy I work with said he saw it in California last year.

No, I called this afternoon just to double check. They said they just got it in and that, because I preordered it, I could come down and pick it up. It's officially released tomorrow to the public but you could go down tonight and pick it up.

Does anyone know a good place to pick up a yard of ale glass? Mine was broken at a stag this weekend and I need to replace it. Local, or even a online store based in North America would be great. I have only seen 1/2 yards or places in the UK that sell them. Figured this would be a good thread to ask, thanks!

For everyone in Lethbridge, Andrew Hilton has officially opened their taps. They are apparently the first liquor store in Canada to offer "Growlers." The growlers (64oz) and the smaller growlettes (32oz) can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 weeks and brought back to be refilled. There will always be an IPA, stout, and 2 seasonals. I was just there for the release party and I must say it is a pretty cool idea!
