I haven't worn sandals in years.

Slides won't stay on my feet. Sandals with a heel/ankle strap cut my ankle open.

I haven't met a pair of flip flops I haven't broken within a few weeks.

I'm totally jealous that I can't wear sandals anymore. My only option is the sandals with ankle strap and to wear knee high socks and to henceforth look 25-30 years older.

Maybe I'm just a scrub, but I like DC slides. Last pair I had before they wore out had a memory foam sole and were super comfortable, wore them for 4 weeks straight in Thailand and even hiked up a mountain in them. Sadly they don't seem to make those particular ones anymore

I am constantly lamenting the discontinuation of these. They even had fur lined ones for winter

These were a little different in that they had a replaceable footbed that greatly extended the longevity of the shoe.

I like the Eva foam sandals though. They’re relatively inexpensive and float.

Big instep? Mine is huge and slides never fit, until I found the Nike Benassi Solar Slide. Super cushiony, I have a few pairs for inside the house and an outdoor pair at each door to the house.

I just bought these:
https://ca.ecco.com/en/ecco-exowrap-...62_color=52962

Like them a lot! With all things ecco use the UK sizing as I'm normally a 9.5/10 and the ones i got are like an 8/8.5 (size 42 euro)

Isn’t that the big thing with birks? You can replace the footbed.

They have clogs with the cork soles as well. They’re great and super comfortable.

Yes you can. I used to work in shoe repair way back in the day and did this quite a bit. Also fixed the cork and the straps on them. They were built well and were an easy fix

Was it economical to replace those on the traditional 2-strap sandals?

No it's normal to low. I think my arch is flattening as I age.
