NHL had a chance to do something really cool by slotting Vegas into the Heritage Classic in Regina next season and didn't do it. We might have gotten a chance to see how much legs the Saskatchewan Golden Knights really has.

Ah like the Riders twitter account kind of adopted them as the home team during their run?

Exactly. They had a whole back and forth going. They brought the Knights mascot into Humboldt during that time too (around the NHL west final).

Thanks for the heads up on this. Every hotel I checked was selling out fast, but managed to grab a couple rooms with free cancellation.

The 2017 outdoor WHL game during the Memorial Cup actually got cancelled due to low ticket sales but Regina has had sellouts for most other major one-off stadium events.
I would expect this to be a sellout, especially since many people will travel from all four directions - AB, MB, Saskatoon and other northern points and maybe even some American hockey fans from the Dakotas, Montana and Minnesota - but will be interesting to see what the re-sale market is like.
Having it in late October is a big bonus - weather could go either way at that time of year but hopefully will be nice sunny fall day instead of blowing, cold winter day.

I disagree that slotting Vegas into this game would have been cool. to me logistically, having a game with the teams that form a triangle around regina makes the most sense.
i think that those that are willing to go to the game are likely ultimately interested in going no mater who is really playing as the game is a neutral site game.\
is it too early to start a game day thread on this game. the sub-plots could be interesting - how many times does johnny dangle buff out of his jockstrap? will the jets be looking for revenge after getting eliminated by the flames in 4 straight in the playoffs?

I feel lucky. Have a friend who I can stay with in Regina if I want, or I can just drive there and back the day of as I only live a few hours away.
Nice.

I don't think we've ever allowed a goal in an outdoor game. Let's keep that trend alive.

I'll be happy if they do a retro white.
I just hope it's not a green Calgary Flames jersey like the one Team Canada rolled out for the 2010 World Jr

That retro white will look just like their regular home jerseys they'll surely be wearing next year though!

There once was a game in Regina.
Played in a stadium so vast,
It was mistaken for your mom's...

I feel the flames and Jets have an amazing opportunity to wear Humbolt Broncos inspired Jerseys for this game

Are you referring to the stadium that looks like a bedpan?

My guess for a one time off jersey is a white based on the 1950s Stampeders, as per below. Maybe a cream/offwhite, then with the red striping. Like the first Heritage classic, it will have a Flames crest instead of the Stampeders logo.
