From what I've heard the designer/publisher of Gloomhaven didn't really make any money on it, despite how well it sold. Despite not being crazy about some elements of the game, IMO it's definitely worth the money both for what went into it as well as what it delivers.

$20.00 of Foamboard from Walmart and plans from Board Game Geek I am ready to open up Gloomhaven and spend all weekend making a viable storage solution. (And I need something for my Zombicide black plauge)

Games aside I find pimping and organizing my games very satisfying.
I blame this thread for dragging me into a vortex of game pimping , game acquisition, miniature painting and having the poor staff at The Sentry Box
suffer my daily browsing.

Do people still care about Catan releases? It's like announcing they're releasing a new Underworld sequel.

The first printing of GOT Catan sold out quickly, and they are on to the second printing.

I would think that was more about it being game of thrones rather than it being Catan, but fair enough. I don't know that the GOT game proper sold through the roof, so there's that.

Storage is always a battle. I've got a tote fulf of plants for all my imperial assault stuff now. I need to purchase some foam though as I've noticed a few of my minis have some slight chips. That is irritating. Any recommendations for foam core storage? I don't have time to build my own.

Also for the got Catan I imagine they did print a lot or would they have even cautious on the first print to make sure it would sell? I know that is generally how it goes with newer board games no? That's why the kickstarter model is so awesome.

This is a retail option but honestly some foam board and a free Saturday and you will be so much farther ahead.
A Olfa knife a metal ruler a cutting surface and Elmer’s white glue (I used a glue gun) are all the tools you require. The results are very satisfying .
Have your minis been protected by a coating like a gloss or Matt clear spray?
My painted minis are sprayed with a rustoluem clear matte which makes a very durable finish.
I also am just about to use a minwax polyshade ( dark walnut) wash to my zombicide minis which will give it a very hard durable coating.
Both provide a durable finish which allows storage and play durability.

I follow Sorastro's IA videos (the guy is awesome, and does Zombiecide which I hope you are already aware of?) and he recommends Testor's so that is what I use. I've only had a problem with a few and it is usually very sharp corners on extreme angles, like the outer most nail on my Nexu. But still having to touch anything up is annoying especially if it requires re shading, highlighting etc..

When you make this foam core what do you store it in?

In Gloomhavens case everything was designed to go back into the retail box.(designed by smarter people than myself lol)

For Imperial Assault I am assuming all the minis and expansions won’t fit in the retail box.
So as a storage solution I would head to Jysk or Micheals where for $50-$20
they sell chests and boxes that would work. I did that for my I Arkham Horror The Card Game I bought two cases ( like a mini old style suitcase) which I made an card organizing system to go inside. The outside I spray painted black and painted a Cuthulu symbol on the front. You can even go so far as to get game artwork put on stickers by a printing company to cover the box with a total thematic design.

For upcoming ski weekend - bringing some two player games, or games with a small footprint:

Jaipur
7 Wonders Duel + Pantheon
Roll Through The Ages
Tiny Epic Kingdoms + Heroes' Call
Sushi Go!

What else fits this criteria?

Who are you playing with, what is their boardgame iq?

I have the following specifically purchased for the wife: Kahuna, Patchwork, Lost Cities, Rivals of Catan.

7 Wonders Duel is a great game but on the high side of the above list but its also on my list (and yours).

I recently got a few games of Scotland Yard in.

https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/438/scotland-yard

Good game. I would put it in the buy category except for the fact that it doesnt come with a player aid map screen for the person playing the "robber".

Without it the game becomes a deception of where your eyes are.

Some experienced gamers, some novices. I heard Patchwork is good too.

Also could work - Hive, Fjords, Targi

Game of Thrones: Hand of the King - Nifty little tile-collecting game with stylized GoT artwork. Tiny box, and scales up to 4.

Thunder & Lightning - Two-player stratego-like game with cards and a Norse mythology theme. Takes up a fair amount of table space once both sides are fully deployed (though no more than 7 Wonders Duel).

Lord of the Rings: The Confrontation - A Knizia 2-player masterpiece and one of my favourite games. The original compact version is hard to find these days, and the more recent edition has more of a medium-sized footprint. If you can find the original, though, get it.

Innovation - Another compact masterpiece, but not for casual gamers.

I miss when I was younger and carefree, and had more time to play RPGs.

Recently I found a way to experience an RPGs despite not having the time to play. There are podcasts where you can follow groups playing a campaign (actual play). After trying a couple, I settled on this one as my favorite:

https://glasscannonpodcast.com/

Following the rules of the Pathfinder (and soon Starfinder!!!) RPG System, The Glass Cannon Network endeavors to create weekly captivating epic fantasy stories accessible to gamers and non-gamers alike. Interweaving immersive storytelling with irreverent, improvised humor, the GM and players deliver the experience of what it’s really like to sit around a table rolling dice with your closest friends. Professional high-quality audio, complex and memorable three-dimensional characters, instructional elements designed to enlighten both new and veteran players, and a commitment to community-building amongst their fans all combine to make The Glass Cannon an exciting new voice in podcasting.

The Glass Cannon Podcast is a Pathfinder campaign (basically D&D 3.5). The GM and players have acting experience and very funny. I had some LOL moments in the first few episodes - some funny stuff about the party rating an Inn poorly because of the number of traps found there. And some NSFW comments about scissoring between a female blacksmith and her partner.

So it is funny, and they explain the rules from time to time without being boring about it. What I like about RPGs - the storytelling, and finding out what is behind that next door.

Any other good podcasts like this?

I think the comedian Brian Posehn had one called Nerd Poker?

Episode 1 of our new campaign is here for everyone:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/...402298611&mt=2
