Not even a shot on goal. I cant wait for Mourinho's presser.
That being said, that looked like a much better Bayern team, but United werent even trying.
You cant look too much into pre-season games, but what does he expect his board to do? Spend a couple hundred million by the end of the week?
This looks like the Antonio Conte strategy....bad mouth your club until you get fired.
I'm not even mad or worried about the result. Losing 1-0 to Bayern? Not a big deal. They are a European top side after all. But the "how" is alarming. Uniteds season starts on Friday, Bayerns season starts in 19 days. Judging by the game you'd think it's the other way round!
United had no possession and couldn't string together a few passes, let alone any actual chances. The Mourinho apologists will say "it's only preseason" and "we missed a few good players" - and I'd agree if I had seen positive glimpses of things to come. But they just looked lethargic and headless again, and that's probably the XI that will start on Friday. This season is going to be a ####show.

Courtois didnt report to training to try and force a move.
It’s hard to say who’s going to finish lower between Chelsea and United at this point. If Hazard and Courtois bail, which is the rumour, it’s a disaster for them. But then you have Mourinho and his third year antics which also seem to be coming around. Interesting times.
so that Alisson world record didn't last long. Chelsea are signing Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for his release clause of £71m. That obviously means that Thibaut Courtois will now get his wish to join Real Madrid.

First of all: Who?
And secondly, I'm not typing that. That name is insane.

he's widely known as Kepa anyway, so don't worry.
He's good. Obviously not "71m good", but not many goalkeepers are. Real were apparently interested in him in January, but then Bilbao swiftly re-signed him and upped his release clause.

Well if they're stealing some of that ill-gotten Russian Oil Money then power to them.

In all honesty, it's about time that the fees for goalkeepers went up. There seems to have been an unwritten rule that goalkeepers are less important and therefore less expensive, so I don't even see a problem with the fact that market seems to have finally adjusted. It's more that those fees are shelled out for "just" good goalkeepers, not great ones. Kepa and Alisson being the most expensive goalkeepers ever just feels a bit wrong.
Well had the fax gone through for De Gea, he would have only cost £29 million plus Navas, and that wasn't even that long ago of course. I agree goalies get undervalued in a sense, but I think this is more about desperation (especially Chelsea with this bid) than a market adjustment for goalie fees going up.

oh sure, it's desperation. Courtois forcing a move with two days to go is a #### situation for them, and just paying the release clause for Kepa is "easier" than having to negotiate a deal for someone else.
but I do think that the market has responded too. Ederson and Pickford also cost a lot last year in comparison to other goalies.
Yeah that's true, and really those both look like very good deals. For Everton especially they could easily flip Pickford for double what they paid for him if he continues to play at the level he can.

Kepa is going to be great, he had been talked about as next madrid goalie for a long time, sid lowe said last year that lots of people in spain think he will be challenging DDG for the spain keeper position in a few years
The fact it sounds like they are getting kovacic on loan too as part of courtois going to chelsea is an absolute steal
A midfield with kante, jorginho, kova has best in the league potential. Not big on their back 4, and getting the new system in place probly takes a few months. But they could be scary year, especially if moratas luck turns around
City have to be tickled pink they got Ederson for £35 million last year. Had they waited even one summer they'd be spending double.
Who knows? They could maybe have bought him for something similar? There's prices and there's Klopp prices.
As long as they got him before Klopp decided to set the new market rate for goalies. Just like he set the new market rate for CBs. Now we sit back and wait for him to complain about prices in the future.
