I keep forgetting about him….

He has no points, but is +4 in his last 2 Liiga games, and has had a slight bump up in ice-time, with 20:12 and 18:20 respectively.

From what I've read about Jurmo is that he's got the size, speed and physicality. Just needs to think the game quicker. Which may or may not be improved upon.

What does the pathway look like for a Liiga prospect? One or two years in the AHL and then a cup of coffee?

The drafted prospects are usually in North America by the time they hit 21-22 years old.

If they can't make it to the NHL by the end of their ELC, they usually head back to Europe - e.g. the Honka brothers, Pokka, Niku, Juolevi, Tuulola (Eetu's brother), Saarijarvi, Hakanpaa (although he returned to NA later on), Lintuniemi, etc.

Jurmo's rights expire on June 1st. It wouldn't be surprising to see come to North America as soon as next season.

I’m wondering if Jurmo got hurt that game, or maybe they were icing 11/7? 5 mins is super low for a Dman.

I read an article in EP Rinkside today that claimed that Jurmo's puck-rushing style isn't working well in Finland's pro ranks, and that he was moved to KooKoo after his ice-time was getting smaller and smaller in Ilves'. According to the article, the same thing is starting to happen in KooKoo. The author doubts that Jurmo will even get an ELC. Personally, I doubt these claims- even though JJ was a throw-in to that trade, I don't think the brass would aquire him if this was the case.

His last ice-times were (most recent first) 5:22, 14:00, 13:07, 9:52, 18:29, 18:20, 20:12, 15:24, 14:12

If anything, that seems like more incentive to get him over to North American pro hockey as soon as possible, as his style could be a much better fit over here (unlocking hidden potential perhaps?).

Definitely would expect the Flames to give him a contract.
