He's going on LTIR though so retired or not?
I have no idea which is why I continue to be frustrated that we haven't made a near-term change to this mess.
Otherwise I think he doesn't get retired since he's on LTIR.

LTIR in the NHL should not matter.
Seabrooks words:
After several surgeries, countless hours of rehab and training to get back on the ice at the level of my expectations, it will not be possible for me to continue playing hockey. This is what is best for me and my family.

OK if LTIR doesn't matter we should retire the other guys too like Boychuk, and whoever else who are sitting on LTIR.

If there is an article suggesting that the player says he is not playing any longer, that is all that should matter.
What I meant wasnt the fact they are on LTIR, its that it shouldnt matter if they are. Contractual obligations in the NHL should not transfer to the CPHL.

LTIR does not mean retired. Regardless his rating his not exactly a game changer and the rating falls off the cliff in subsequent years. Putting retirement papers into the league office is when he should exit the sim.

Defenseman Johnny Boychuk announced his retirement Wednesday due to an eye injury suffered during the 2019-20 NHL season.
"I don't even think it was a decision. When you play with it and realize there's something wrong, and then you go and get tests, it really wasn't a decision; it was a life choice, I guess," Boychuk said in a news conference.

Really thats all that should matter to us. The NHL doesnt live by our contracts, neither should we follow theirs.

I don't disagree but the league GMs voted not to make any changes until after the season.
So based on how we've been applying the rule - Seabrook like the others can stay for this season.

I'm highlighting if people aren't happy with that, we can re-visit the decision not to make any changes this season. Or we ride it out and fix this in the summer.

All these guys that have been brought up in this thread will be retired at season's end and then we will shift to applying the new rule as was agreed to in the voting.
