I used to love them (but I had to kill them). Their sound hasn't aged well and I haven't listen to GnR in ages.

And Axl can't sing anymore which is a shame.

Appetite for Destruction is still one of the greatest rock albums ever made, and I'll forever love them for that. But unfortunately they're currently a shell of their former selves.

They made some good songs for sure. Sweet Child O'Mine is still a great song IMO. I also give them credit for sort of bridging the gap between straight-up glam rock and hard rock/metal.

I don't know if they were ever good live though, at least Axl. I saw them live back when they were promoting Use Your Illusion, and they were really awful. At least Axl Rose was. He couldn't hit the notes he did in the recordings and just looked really bored and irritated to even be there. He even brought a chair out at one point and just sat there and sang. Slash and Duff McKagan were great though.

I still love Guns n Roses. They had a good 5 years in the late 80's early 90's.

For someone my age, 42, Guns N' Roses are rock and roll royalty. They were incredibly influential when I was growing up. The Terminator 2 song, with its music video "You Could Be Mine," was badass

They have some classics (Paradise City, Sweet Child O Mine) that will never be forgotten. Pop culture will carry them forever. And a few deeper gems like Civil War and Patience. Are really great.

But they were never destined for longevity.

As a kid I liked all the hits on the Use Your Illusion albums. Over the years a few of the deeper tracks have really grown on me such as:

Coma
Breakdown
The Garden
Locamotive
Yesterdays

I still remember ditching school and lining up at A&A Records at Southcentre Mall to buy those albums. Good times!

Such an awkward thread title given that slaps is a gen-z slang and gen-zs would be the least likely to GAF about guns n roses

Just be a self respecting gen-x and say "rocks" .. we don't have to complicate this

I'm a huge Blind Melon fan and Shannon Hoon's vocals on Don't Cry make the track. Especially with headphones on and your focus on him. It's really a duet.
