Default Re-do the Oscars

Thought this would be fun.

We take a year and we re-do the Oscars. You don't have to limit yourself to the nominees, just who should have won with the benefit of some history now behind us.

We will cover the major awards: Picture, Director, Actor/Actress, and supporting.

I am going to start with the 1990 Oscars.
In bold are the winners:

Best Picture: Driving Miss Daisy, Dead Poet's Society, Field of Dreams, My Left Foot, Born on the 4th of July

Best Actor: Daniel Day Lewis, My Left Foot, Kenneth Branagh (Henry V), Tom Cruise (Born), Morgan Freeman (DMD), Robin Williams (DPS)

Best Supporting Actor: Denzel Washington, Glory, Danny Aiello (Do The Right Thing, Dan Aykroyd (DMD, Marlon Brandon (Dry White Season), Martin Landau (Crimes and Misdemeanors)

Best Actress: Jessica Tandy (DMD), Isabelle Adjani (Camille Claudel), Pauline Colins (Shirley Valentine), Jessica Lange (Music Box), Michelle Pfeiffer (Fabolous Baker Boys)

Best Supporting Actress: Brenda Fricker, My Left Foot, Anjelic Huston (Enemeis: A Love Story), Lena Olin (Enemies a Lovey Story), Julia Roberts (Steel Magnolias), Dianne Wiest (Parenthood)

Best Director: Oliver Stone, (Born), Woody Allen (Crimes and Misdemeanors, Kenneth Branagh (Henry V), Jim Sheridan (My left Foot), Peter Weird (Dead Poet's Society)

This is where it gets confusing, the 1990 Oscars were for movies generally in 1989.
My picks:

Best Picture: Do the Right Thing
Best Director: Spike Lee
Best Actor: Rob Williams (Daniel Day Lewis is probably the right choice here but i don't think I ever watched it)
Best Actress: Michelle Pfeifer
Best Supporting Actor: Denzel Washington
Best Supporting Actress: I really don't know

I have no corrections but that’s without question one of the weaker BP fields in the last 35 years.

Do the Right Thing definitely should have been nominated.

With knowing how DDLs career plays out you could not give him the best actor here and he still gets two in his career. And if you want to have him get 3 2018s phantom thread performance over Oldman would be a good place to do it.

So I give Williams the Oscar here

Do the right thing should have one Beat picture

Can we just skip to the part where do we Saving Private Ryan getting Best Picture over Shakespeare in Love?

As far as 1990, it seems I have to rewatch a lot of these films. Other than Do The Right Thing and Glory it's definitely been more than 10 years since I've seen any of them.

I haven't seen all the movies nominated in 90, but I feel like Robin Williams in Dead Poets Society was an amazing performance. Now I see Daniel Day Lewis won so hard to argue against him.

Also Batman 89 should have won for Costume and Make Up.

Best picture I really like Field of Dreams and When Harry Met Sally wished one of those would have won. Still have to watch Do The Right Thing which many people have said should have won BP.
