If they keep openly making human extinction death viruses, it's really going to put a dent in my 'northern cave bat flies 1000 km to make sweet love with some wombat-like creature, who is then cooked alive by a dude at a wet market who breathed deeply the devilish spores of respiratory Satan' beliefs.

Well the plus side of a 100% lethal virus with only a 1 week gestation is that it would be nearly impossible for it to become a global pandemic

I mean, it makes a great story though.
Just remember...no undercooked Pangolin! Medium! Medium-Well is best.

I do wonder about the whole 'Pangolin/Bat' theory was just because someone watched 'Contagion?'

They were cultured in a lab (again pre-pandemic) and then naturally occurring mutations were studied in mice. Those are totally normal processes in studying viruses.

I don’t know how you’re such a wealth of knowledge, but I think you should know how much your posts over the last few years (especially anything COVID or politically related) have been appreciated.
Any time sensationalism or fear mongering raise their ugly heads, you manage to come in calm, with straightforward, factual information that cuts it off at the knees. That’s pretty cool.

I think you will always end up with pockets of resistance. You might get 30-50% kill rates but achieve extinction level would be difficult. Natural mutation after release likely has some strains that don’t kill yet provide immunity against the killer strain.

I am sick and tired of your bull####e. Why do you have to come in and pile on someone with your snideful rude arrogant comments? This is a travesty.
What? Read the post? Ok.
Huh. Pepsi has been kidnapped and replaced by some sort of ... not sure what to call it... Nice Person? That doesn't seem right.
Is green needed? Maybe? Not sure. Just to be safe.

Neither would cause a total human extinction IMO, bombs wont go off everywhere and if you can create a virus lab scientist's will figure out how to stop it. Humans are smart survivors
In all likely hood we'll go extinct because of something from space, a big asteroid/comet collision, a gamma ray burst or even a rouge black hole or neutron star.

So SkyNet.
We know its coming and, as we learned during the COVID-19 Pandemic, human society is essentially incapable of learning 'World Ending' lessons, which is why something stupid we do is eventually going to end us.
And thus, even as we know AI is going to kill us all, we keep right on hurtling towards it.
Its a tale as old as time, it started with slavery and then mechanization through the Industrial Revolution.
"Hey...um...guys...do you um...think maybe we should just stick to doing our own work ourselves?"
And then BAM! A T-1000 shows up and kills that guy!
