Quote:
The Calgary Flames announce today that they have signed forward Martin Pospisil to a three-year entry-level contract.
Pospisil, a native of Zvolen, Slovakia, concluded his second season with the Sioux City Musketeers in the USHL, where he had his best statistical season in 2018-19. The 19-year-old scored 16 goals and added 47 assists for 63 points in 44 games played. Pospisil also suited up for Team Slovakia at the World Junior Championships this past January where he notched two assists and eight penalty minutes in five games. The assistant captain of the Musketeers was drafted by the Flames in the fourth round (105th overall) in the 2018 NHL Draft.

I think it’s a little too early to send him to the AHL, I would wonder if any team in the CHL could be convinced to sign him as an overage import?
I have big hopes for this guy, every team can use a little more attitude and nasty like he’s got.

Pospisil would be a two-spotter in the CHL (import and over-ager) and would need to have been selected in last year's import draft to be eligible to play. It's AHL for him.

Excited to see how his game translates to the professional level. Sounded a little too aggressive for the USHL.

What’s the deal with him not being able to play NCAA? Is it just players change of heart or was he ineligible for some reason?
I would have preferred that development route

Francis reported Pospisil was struggling with the ACT test a few months ago. Probably couldn't get the minimum score required to get into US colleges with Division 1 hockey programs.

All I can get

The Flames like to stock their system with similar type prospects to create internal competition. Pospisil's style is roughly similar to Adam Ruzicka's. Hopefully one emerges out of the two.

Is it though. I think Ruzicka is a bit of a teddy bear while Pospisil is all grit and sandpaper.
