The most interesting part is they have moved full time to retro branding.

Good job Flames. It only took 14 years and constant fan clamoring.

Oh come on. 8 is my favourite number and it’s cursed in Calgary. Eriksson, Colbourne, Stewart, Grossmann...

I finally get a young stud defenseman in Calgary to wear it instead of some bum and he switches.

Hopefully Tanev breaks the curse.

They had just given Mackey #6 during the mini “training camp”. Wonder what number he will take/be given now

Who was wearing #6 when Valimaki debuted, Prout?

They’re using the “flag” jersey font in retro colours. I’m assuming that’s just for the graphic and the actual retro jerseys will have the traditional font...

Ew. Valimaki wearing 6? Yikes, never liked that number for some reason. Much preferred 8. Guess Tanev must have bought him a Rolex or something.

I feel the same. Was planning on Välimäki #8 for my next jersey purchase. Oh for the halcyon days of my childhood when Val Bure and former NHL all-star Petr Buzek wore the number.

You’re just afraid the “Wideman effect” might make a return.

You know a few players have worn 25 before Marky. I think he will purify it from the stench of those before him.

Are there any differences between the 19/20 retro and the 20/21 retro?

I'm a McCarty fan, but Moss might be the best 25 since Nieuwendyk

Markstrom is the 12th player to wear 25 since Nieuwendyk, hopefully he can do the number some justice

Tkachuk has the best number in hockey - short of a starting goalie and a true #1C, the most important ingredient of a championship team is a #19 that isn’t a complete hack.

No, other than the usage.

Haha I truly appreciate how much number selections mean to you.

I was already lining up for a Markstrom jersey next, and number 25 solidifies that. A goalie number in the 20’s, cool!
