A few years back myself and a group of neighbors had a matter of concern and approached her office. You're right - I'll give her credit - her aides answered our emails, and eventually progressed to a meeting. Thing is - she governs via a set of beliefs and policies that operate at levels beyond civic government that causes her to gloss over some of actual day to day workings and local concerns of her constituents. Put simply, her constituents are talking, she's listening, but she ain't doing nothing about it. I don't think she was always like that - seemed a little more grounded in her days on the Kensington BRZ. I attribute that to 20 years in the Councillors chair and her aspiring to do bigger things.
You might say, 'well gee you were in the wrong' there - and you might be right. Thing is - I don't think it was just us. That part in Mcrae's interview where she talks about meeting people in a dog park with 'unheard' concerns? I'd say it's accurate. I ended up talking to plenty of neighbors and members of the CA and there was a healthy amount of eye rolling when I mentioned we planned on taking the matter to her. Everyone had tips about dealing with Druh. Most said we were wasting our time.
Lots of scuttlebutt about whether she'd run again. Was some speculation at the time that one of her trusted aides would run with her endorsement as a successor. I think she'll go provincial and help out Notley somehow....or join an urban developer like RNDSQR....

This a completely accurate description of my dealings with her office.
We have very real problems causing property damage right now, been going on for 18 months. Her office loves to respond, with zero substance.
She loves to post all day on Social Engineering schemes but need help to get your property protected. That is for the lessers.

Does anyone know if there’s a byelection coming up, or if they just wait a year?

If there is a vacancy on Council less than a year from the next election, the seat remains unfilled. The next municipal election is October 18, 2021: exactly one year to the day from yesterday.

So who covers his old ward until next year's election?
I used to live in his ward. He's been there forever. Unfortunate he's living earlier than scheduled due to his health (was suppose to be his last term), but will be good (in a good way hopefully) to get new blood for that ward that actually wants to get improvements and projects done within that part of the NE.

He retirement announcement said his current office staff will handle requests from constituents. I presume nobody will vote on behalf of Ward 10 in Council sessions.

It's not an encouraging sign when your website you use to sell your website services doesn't even use HTTPS.

It’s funny that they don’t put that Opex is only marginally higher than municipal inflation plus pop growth. We could do better on wages in union negotiations to bring them back down a bit over time but really spending is being driven by Capital projects. Overpassed, LRTs Arenas and Libraries are the source of tax increases. So anyone cutting or freezing taxes should be asked which capital projects are they cutting.
Or one could run on cutting police budgets as that sacred cow never seems to get pushed like other departments.

Bell's sabre-rattling article this morning is definitely a harbinger for the slate candidate/Farkas For Mayor push.
Grim times ahead.

Trying to take back Calgary city hall, can't even hire a Calgary based web design firm. But I guess Vulcan is Alberta's Silicon Valley.

It was back in February, though it wouldn't surprise me if they still support him.

I guess I'm not surprised, but I still can't believe that they'd publicly have him on a slate. I would think that compromises the whole thing? Frankly, I'd be stunned that he was even running again though.
