the next 4 out of 5 posts are anti vax rubbish about how vaccinated people are dropping like flies, everyone I know is vaccinated, none of them have died, not that this is empiric proof in any way but if you are reduced to claiming random news anchors and football players you have never met that you see on TV that have a medical issue that you then claim without any knowledge that this is proof that the vax is killing us all then you clearly also dont know anyone personally that has died or even had a bad reaction form the vax and you and your argument is delusional

3) Rachel Notley - something about election promises.
4) Doug Jones (actor) - something about hackers.
5) Calgary Transit - something about Calgary Transit ambassadors.

If you're seeing trash, it is because the people you follow are posting or re-tweeting trash. What are you defining as your "feed"?

Yeah I cleaned my computer out and went back into twitter and it doesn't matter if I go to the 'for you' tab or 'following' it's all people I already follow.

Late yesterday, The Information reported that it had seen internal Twitter Slack communications confirming that the company had intentionally cut off third-party Twitter app access to its APIs. The shut-down, which happened Thursday night US time, hasn’t affected all apps and services that use the API but instead appears targeted at the most popular third-party Twitter clients, including Tweetbot by Tapbots and Twitterrific by The Iconfactory. More than two days later, there’s still no official explanation from Twitter about why it chose to cut off access to its APIs with no warning whatsoever.

To say that Twitter’s actions are disgraceful is an understatement.

They updated the iOS apps to show the algorithmic feed by default and you are unable to default to the 'following' feed. You can still swipe over to it, but when you open the app fresh - it goes the algo feed - so you'll see nonsense on it. They haven't done it on android yet so its still the same for those users.

Tweetbot's developer was able to request new API keys through the automated system after they were originally taken down, and those new keys were manually revoked by someone at Twitter.

It's amazing how a company can keep scoring own goals like this. Very impressive levels of stupidity.

I don't know what the difference is, but I virtually never get that kind of content. The most offensive stuff that ends up in my For You page is stuff like the #Canucks hashtag.

prior to deleting my account (pre and post musk), i was getting alot of posts that someone that i followed had followed.

It was so annoying. It would be some crap about the convoy or the dutch farmers protests (from Canadians). it was mostly some trash Rebel / other right wing freelance journalist. It was annoying and partially the reason for leaving. Im not surprised to see it got worse

I'm not seeing any of these changes people are talking about. It's pretty much the same Twitter I've had for a long time. Has this update not hit Android app yet?

It's possible they are doing A/B testing and rolling out different changes to groups of users. So you may not see a difference, but others do.

Putin has no real power over me. Klaus Schwab has tremendous influence on all the corporations, nations and financial systems that do have power over me. I don't think it's that easy of a call.

It’s just two tabs now instead of one. And it seems to default to the “for you” instead of who you’re following. It’s interesting though. The for you tab shows me a lot of people I follow anyway, so maybe they’ve adjusted the algorithm now. Initially, it was a terrible compilation of people I’d never follow.
