I'm weirdly overconfident in the Bruins this year and it has me worried. I'm usually a fairly realistic fan and never get cocky, but something about this season has me trash talking way more than I'm comfortable with lol. Hoping it'll be a quick series, but I'm worried about Kadri for some reason. Leafs fans are bitching so much about the playoff format, but you know if they pull this out those complaints will die off. This is exactly how rivalries are built and why the victory would be so much sweeter if you *finally* beat your enemy. I don't think it happens tho, and the B's win in 5.
Also, in 2011 I bought a new TV for the playoff run, and of course, my Bruins won on June 15. Well, it was time for a new one so I bought another new TV for the playoffs this year. I have a feeling another run is gonna happen and it's gonna end up against another Western Canadian team in June. The difference of course is I like you guys. I like the Flames. I hope if we do meet in the Finals it's a great series without controversy and Marchand doesn't do anything too stupid. A series of him against Tkachuk would be pretty awesome.

I have no faith in Dubas. If the leafs lose and he fires Babcock, its only a matter of time before he destroys the team (see the edmonton oilers)

I'm not Dubas's biggest fan, either, but what does he have anything to do with Edmonton?

Bruins are just the better team and that usually shows through in a 7 gamer.
Leafs defense is below average and Anderson cannot cover for it night after night. They will score some goals cause of the firepower up front but not enough to cover the large holes on the roster.
And I really doubt Babcock gets fired either. He is still owed 26 million dollars on that deal.

Steven Brunt is convinced it’s going to happen if they get eliminated in the 1st round again. Not sure how plugged in he is but Babcock has a miserable playoff record over the last decade and money really doesn’t matter in Toronto.

Babcock, like Quenneville, would be scooped up fairly quick, so neither Toronto nor Chicago will be on the hook for the entire balance of the respective contracts

I think the Bruins are going to the SCF so I’m predicting a Bruin win in 5 vs the Leaf.

If I had to choose, I'd say the Bruins pull this one out.
That said, if Toronto beats Boston, they're going to the Finals. Boston is their dragon. Every team to slay their dragon in recent memory has gone to the Finals.
Vancouver vs Chicago
San Jose/Nashville vs the 2nd round
Washington vs Pittsburgh
Nobody the Leafs face this post-season, Lightning included, will be as terrifying in Toronto's mind than Boston. If they beat the Bruins, they're not going to be afraid of anyone.

Toronto in 6 games. It’s really the first time they have the better team.

Narrative with the assist of NHL 19 Playoff Mode Sim:
Toronto goes up 2-0, at which point the dumb-dumbs start being all cocky while all the paranoids try to shush them up. Sure enough the tinfoil hats prove correct as the Bruins win the next 3 straight to send the entirety of eastern ON into mayhem and panic induced hysteria over being the chokiest bunch of chokes that ever choked.
But in a stunning display of resiliency never before seen in the likes of a MLSE owned team, they win Game 6 and somehow gut it out in Game 7 in OT to take the first series over the Bruins in god knows how long and finally break the playoff Bruins curse.

That's got to be one of the worst catchphrases in all of sports, and it's just another reason to hope for an early exit for the leafs.
Boston got off to a bit of a bad start this year but has been hot for months. The leafs are the converse, as usual: a great start and ho-hum over the second half.
The one thing that might hurt the B's is their so-so PK vs TO's strong PP, but the leafs also have a so-so PK. Also, the Canucks and the Caps have shown that playoff demons can be exorcised.
As good as Marner, Tavares & Matthews are, such a balanced, experienced roster as the Bruins' that also features some jam and youthful exuberance should be able to take the leafs in 6 or less. I hope.

ECQF: Boston Bruins (A2) vs Toronto Maple Leafs (A3)
Problem leafs are going to have outside their defence is the Bergeron factor. He is just so damn good and I’d wager he’s going to negate the play of one of Tavares or Matthews. The Bruins are just a terrible matchup for the leafs, but I do think the Leafs have the potential to win the series if Andersson regains form.

If Toronto goes to the finals with that defense it'll change the way people look at building a winning team.
