Default Calgary Stampede 2014

New foods this year:

http://cs.calgarystampede.com/fun-food/food.html

A lot of food returnees. Edit: unless it's the same list from last year. In which case, I don't remember enough to distinguish. Lol.

Concert lineups haven't been announced yet, but Shania Twain has a concert at the dome. They're pushing that pretty hard. She's featured prominently on the homepage.

For those not interested in Stampede, shut up and stay out. No one's forcing you to post here. You know who you are. Lol.

Shania Twin at Nashville North is about as authentic as Shania Twain at the Saddledome.

I definitely had some of those foods at last year's Stampede. The cochinita pibil is amazing, but wow was it hot.

Think I remember the Idaho nachos being quite good last year.

The deep-fried oreos or cheesecake did not live up to expectations.

Pickle shooters? Olive shooters made from the juice black olives are packed in. By the way, don't get me wrong, I could drink both of those all day..it seems pretty lame, unless this is the juice from some very gourmet gherkins.

I lover the deep fried oreos, the only problem is that I would like to buy one and not six. The food is the best part of stampede.

I think the trouble last year was, it was hot out. I wanted to try everything, but eating deep-fried foods when it's hot out is not fun; for me at least. I'd rather have something cold, but there are so few options for interesting cold food items at the Stampede. I guess the lemonade is about it, otherwise it's just... ice cream bars that you can get anywhere.

Meatsicles on a stick? Cooked and re-frozen frozen fish sticks on a stick? There must be some creative uses of meat that are cool and refreshing.

I agree with that. After the first or second deep fried, heavy item, you're kinda done. Nothing to cool you off.

You just know they are going to perform together at some point though, right?

Lemonade is always good or slurpees! Don't even have to have a slurpee, just walk near the station to cool off.
