Are we sure Prince is dead?

With new music coming out, this feels like a Tupac situation

Prince had a notoriously large catalogue of unreleased music, so it’s not surprising it’s coming out. Feels super disrespectful considering how adamant he was that this stuff not see the light of day, but who knows, maybe he wrote it into his will to go nuts with it.

He didn't have a will, which created a ton of chaos. His half-siblings became entitled to shares of his estate.

Heard a song from 2017 EP that was supposed to be released, on CKUA a couple of weeks ago,
EP called "Deliverance"
check it out. I've listened to it multiple times.
classic Prince

"I Am" is ok but I can see why he didn't release these songs

I always knew Prince's unreleased work would be like this. His unreleased material reached folklore levels of reverence, but the reality is if you follow his career you can see what it would sound like.

Prince had his hits but his biggest ambition was to create music "on the spot", which you see everywhere from his concerts to his TV and SNL performances. It was a challenge and very commendable, but rarely produces quality music, just a bunch of directionless jams.

Its an interesting read but frankly it could be about any large urban US city, it is inane to think Prince couldn't have come from 20 or more US cities

The article should have mentioned Purple Snow: Forecasting The Minneapolis Sound. This was unique to the Twin Cities.

Quote:
Bubbling up from the snow-blanketed land of 10,000 lakes, the Minneapolis Sound defied expectations, emerging late in the ’70s as a slick, black, technologically advanced fusion, poised to storm the charts. In relative silence, the Twin Cities had been harboring a tight-knit community feverishly at work in radically manipulating American dance music, varnishing futurist funk with guitar rock’s glamorous sheen.

I saw either this tweet or one exactly like it yesterday.

Basically they needed one more song for the movie Purple Rain, so Prince came back the next day with When Doves Cry completely finished and ready to go.

What a crazy amount of talent.

wish I caught more of this , only managed to see M Day and the Time, Foo and Mavis Staples (the latter being worth the price of admission)

I have heard Grohl tell part of this story before- very charming he sounded like a total fanboy, although my recollection was the jam occured at a concert venue (staples center or the forum)

"The telecast leaves out an additional aside that Grohl added during the taping — that he and Prince did get together and jam in a studio once."
