Discuss: Star Wars was not a SciFi movie, but is more properly described as a Fantasy.

Ooo excellent thread idea.
All BSG references are from the re-imagined series.
Best Starship
Battlestar Galactica
Honourable mentions: Millenium Falcon, Serenity (Firefly/Serenity)
Best Starfighter
Viper (Battlestar Galactica)
Honourable mention: X-wing

Best Hero
Captain Malcom Reynolds (Firefly/Serenity)
Honourable mention: Han Solo, General Adama, Ellen Ripley
Best setting
Future L.A. (Blade Runner) - excellent mention by troutman. Such a cool, dark, and unique setting.
Honourable mention: Battlestar Galactica/Human Fleet
Best Battle
Rebel Alliance vs. first Imperial Deathstar
Honourable mentions: pretty much any Battlestar Galactica battle especially the one where Lee is floating watching it from afar, Serenity vs. Alliance Fleet vs. Reavers (Serenity), Aliens vs. Marines when they first arrive on LV 426
Iconic moments
Roy Batty's death (Blade Runner) - Awesome way to end a great movie.
Honourable mention: Ripley's fight with the Queen (Aliens), "Luke, I am your father", Boomer shoots General Adama
Cool moment
Serenity vs. Alliance fleet vs. Reaver fleet (Serenity) - The buildup and acting done by Chiwetel Ejiofor leading up to the first shot being fired and total chaos that ensues is so awesome IMO.
Honourable mentions:
- Battlestar Galactica I think in season 3 when the Chief discovers the temple of the final 5. The standoff with the Cylon's where Adama almost nukes the entire planet.
- Han saves Luke at the end of A New Hope.
- Han feigns a direct attack on the Imperial Star Destroyer and then completely evades certain capture (Empire Strikes Back)

Transformers the animated movie count? Have always enjoyed that!
Someone's already mentioned this (and it's a TV show..) but Captain Power and the Soldiers of the future was pretty neat.
Oh and as a side note to the OP I totally forgot about Event Horizon, that's a great sci fi movie as well. Amazing setting and the airlock part was pretty cool (and a wee bit disturbing).
