That's what I assume. Its a bit of a standalone episode with one tenuous connection

Spoiler!

But if that is the case it feels a bit shoe-horned in.

In my opinion, the Tuskegee story could stand on its own mini series

I wish they had made this a much longer series or split it into different parts. There's so much they can cover between the missions, downed pilots escaping through the resistance network, POW camps, different fighter/bomber squadrons, etc. They're touching on all of them but it feels way too rushed

Alright finally started it

One episode in. Acting is good, writing is good, the CGI throws me off though. It's not bad, but the planes seem to move weird to me. Almost video game like, maneuver a little too fast. Not enough to take away from the show but it's a little distracting I guess

Excited to keep going, probably get another episode in after the flames game

Loving the reference of the Great Escape. Really gives more perspective to the war timeline.

Bombers or fighters?

I'm not disagreeing, but I gave no reference point to say if they are moving too fast or not.

I have never seen a WW2 B-17 or bf109 fly in real life.

I’m not familiar, can you expand on this?

Really?

It's a very famous story

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_Escape_(book)

https://www.history.com/news/great-e...talag-luft-iii

A monster escape of Allied Airmen during WW2, resulting in a large number of prisoners being murdered upon re-capture.

The movie takes needless liberties, pretty amazing story.

Wait.

You're telling me you didn't know about 'The Great Escape?'

Its an incredibly famous part of the war. The tunnel those guys dug is nothing short of incredible.

Sir. You need to watch that film and a couple of documentaries.

I haven't seen much of the fighters yet from episode one, but from what I have seen they seem alright. Mostly just talking about the bombers

It's certainly not all scenes, the one of landing in Greenland and one bomber doing a go around and just started floating up stood out as looking a little off

But it's not a big deal, it's not taking anything away from the show just found it a touch distracting

Back in the 80's, when i was in Cadets. At our year end Inspection, Our guest speaker was a soldier that was involved in building those tunnels, He was slated to go out but (fortunately?) they were discovered before he had a chance to enter them.

My recollection of the stories are probably a little scewed over time, but i do remember basically hanging on every thing he was telling us and that the majority of us were in absolute awe.

As well you should be! The real history of the building of that tunnel is INSANE! I cant even imagine. The work, the dedication, the discipline.

Its like...I've told this story before, but I used to have a client (RIP Jacques) who was a French Jew in Auschwitz. I went to a lecture he gave at the Jewish centre and yeah...you're clinging to every word.

Its madness what some of those people went through.

Yeah exactly that sort of thing. The average viewer isn't going to notice or care, but it stands out to those that know

Every grenade should produce a small mushroom-cloud.

Don't even get me started on modern rifles (Colt variants M16/C-7) and their ejection port cover.

There are some extremely wonky CG scenes with the planes.
