Default Will home crowd have an impact?

Flames players pretty excited to enjoy all that the pre-pandemic style playoffs have to offer in Calgary. The C of Red/Red Mile.

Lucic has yet to pull on the jersey in the playoffs with fans there.

Curious to see how they feed off this energy when the puck drops.

Two quotes showing the players are pumped:

“I hope the fans bring it, and I hope we bring it for the fans as well.” - Lucic

“I love what they have around the rink, too: the watch parties and the streets. Everywhere you look, you see red.” - Chucky

The home fans will absolutely have an impact. The Dome usually goes bananas in the playoffs. It’s gonna be fun.

Don't let them down if you're in attendance... don't be that guy who gives people weird looks for getting loud.

We also need to convince players to stay and others to come to Calgary...make Calgary the place guys want to play in the playoffs.

Just like the players step up in the playoffs the fans need to do the same. Players finish every check we need to cheer those hits. Big save we chant Marky’s name, the go flames go should be deafening during the pre game and throughout.

I am guilty being a quiet fan on those tuesdays vs any team USA but during the playoffs we need to step up and I will be. I want the red to be intimidating and in order for that to happen we need to be loud.

I have often thought that opening at home isn't a great advantage. Give the opponent two free cracks at taking home ice advantage away from you. And home ice is maybe more valuable deeper into the series.

If I could design the ideal scenario for max home ice advantage to the better seeded team, it would be:

Game 1 and 2 on the road
Game 3 and 4 at home
Game 5 on the road
Game 6 and 7 at home

Zero chance the team with the advantage wants to open on the road.

This would give the lower seeded team the advantage as 3 of the first 5 are on the road. You lose 1 home game and it could be lights out before you get to games 6 and 7.

IMO it would be worth that to get the likely decisive games at home.

Baseball does something like that. The lower team can clinch in 5 games with only one road win. I think their setup gives more advantage to lower team as upsets are harder to come by deeper in the series IMO.

As I see it, home ice doesn’t matter in a short series. It matters much more in a longer series.

Two game sets in soccer have the higher team opening on the road I believe.

Better would be:

Game 1 at home
Game 2 and Game 3 on the road
Game 4 and Game 5 at home
Game 6 on the road
Game 7 at home

Lower seeded team never has the advantage of playing more home games in a possible series clinching game. And if you sweep, you win at home.
