I don't think so.
Bennett replaced Ferland on the 1st line. The 3rd line wasn't doing well so something had to be done with that line. Ferland was also playing with a nagging injury and wasn't doing well on the 1st line lately, and it is likely that he wasn't able to keep up due to whatever was ailing him. He wound up skipping the 3rd period due to said injury.

Top line hadn't been producing for a while, it needed a change up. Teams don't have to "showcase" players, teams have scouts for a reason.

When every game is televised, when tape on every player can be analysed, when scouts can attend games in person all the time, who the hell showcases players anymore? It's 2018.
OP name checks out.

I hope not, I still see the potential in Bennett and don't want to watch it come to life anywhere but with the Flames.

And why would a team in a playoff race who needs every win and every point be willing to showcase a player? I think the flames have better things to worry about.

I've recently realized that there's a few conspiracy theorists on CP. Rittich was always going to play against Boston? GG is covering up (what I don't know). Ferland switched with Bennett? They are showcasing Bennett. Ferland leaves game? Traded.

clearly showcasing him. because one or two good games will increase his trade value by 37% or more compared to his complete body of work.
I also believe they were showcasing gillies as well

I think it was a case of trying to spark a top line that hadn't dominated at even strength the last 5 or so games. Bennett/Janko had also gone cold too so it actually ended up being a shrewd decision by GG that ended up paying off.
I don't think 1 or 2 games on the top line will do much to whatever is believed to be Bennett's current price around the league ~ the only way I see us dealing him is in a package with one of our D for a big big piece.

Before last night, the top line didn't have a regulation goal in six games (from what I heard from Hrudey last night) . . . Probably a shakeup with peculiar timing, that's all.
That said, I have no doubt the scouts attending that game probably took a good look.

Well I hope we keep him then as this is the type of performance Bennett is capable of and he's no more inconsistent than anyone else on this team.
Good job Sammy

It was just a thought. He does have one more year at a real cap friendly hit. Our intention the whole time was for him to be in the top six. Just thinking maybe they have seen all they need to and made the decision to cut him loose for the most they can get. If he can light it up in the top six for a couple games it only helps them.
So pondering something is all of a sudden makes someone a conspiracy nut?

Not really peculiar timing. Ferland had been demoted last game, that carried over to this one. The only difference is that GG didn't care to switch too many positions against Vegas (moving Bennett from third line LW to first line RW meant three players being moved from usual positions, versus two in Vegas).
