So... everyone mark their calendar... spring 2020... Will Fox sign or pull a Vesey?

Instantly thought of Ryan Ellis. Hope he can become that type of player for us

i don't like to fear monger, but fox is the right type of player (not person, hopefully) to do this. he is a long term guy, who will almost assuredly spend 3 years in college. Like Vesey, he'll probably be ready to go pro after 3, but he might want to stay for 4.

I have confidence the Flames will get him signed though, whenever he is ready.

Any reason why? Sounds like he would have been a 1st round pick if he was a few inches taller.

Any time I hear a scout go nuts for a guy like Cummings did for Fox today, I have faith they got the right player at that pick range. The way Button put it, Cummings was like a "dog on a bone" for Fox.

Called Fox Elite in his Fan interview today. I wanted RW but there's no way I'll call out the scouts decisions after the last five years of their drafting. I have faith.

Good, incredibly gushing, glowing write up on Fox from Habs Eyes on the Prize. Calls him "possibly the best value pick" in the draft and claims he has "top 20-30" talent.

Also worth noting: set the USNDT single-season record for points by a defenseman.

How was he still on the board for the flames? This article leads me to think he should have gone early in the 2nd round.

His size and the fact that he will be in school for 3-4 years plus a year or two in the AHL before he's ready most likely

Hockeyprospect.com had a note that nhl scouts seem to really like him or want no part of him - questions about his skating and play outside the offensive zone.

He's listed at 5-10.75 by the NHL combine, so not that short and an okay 185lbs. Reminds me of Russell here but he'll have a chance to put on more muscle.

Quote:
Adam Fox uses his quick feet to keep attackers in front of him off the rush. He has good backwards skating and a quick stick and is tough to beat one-on-one. Fox’s size and strength become an issue in the defensive zone though. He can be overpowered in puck battles and has issues clearing the front of the net. This is the biggest flaw in his game, and the main question mark surrounding Fox.

We've been getting lucky with our first round picks being the type of players we want but the later rounds haven't been so forthcoming. We just have to take what are the best players available to us and adapt our style to the players we have.

When they said he was diminutive, I was expecting Gaudreau size. Guy is pretty much 5 feet 11 inches. While not tall, I wouldn't say he's tiny either. He's Patrick Kane height. Here's hoping we drafted the Gaudreau of dmen.

I know a lot of people don't go into the prospects forum, so I thought I'd post this here...

Fox has been off to a very strong start to his Collegiate career with Harvard. As a true freshman, Fox has solidified his spot on a roster full of older players.

http://gocrimson.com/sports/mice/201...=0&pos=skaters

After 9 games, he now has 11 points (1G, 10A). He is tied for fourth on the team in points, and tied for first on the team for assists and +/-.

He leads all defencemen and all freshmen on the team in points by a wide margin (the next-highest d-man has 5 points, and the next-highest freshman has 3 points).

Going into Saturday's game, he had 8 points (all assists) in 8 games. He had a 3-point game on Saturday, including his first goal. It was a nice one too: https://twitter.com/Harvard_Hockey/s...78541682765824

He's looking like a great pick for a third-rounder.

He's making a strong case for inclusion on Team USA at the World Jrs, and he's still young enough that he could play in the next two tournaments.

If he keeps up this rate all season I think he'll be in Stockton next year.

I look forward to many threads worrying about whether or not he'll sign with the flames.
