agreed... i'd be stunned if a 38 year old guy without an NHL contract would be getting a 1.75 million prorated contract

as for connie's statement, seems like that interpretation could be literally applied to anyone then, as anyone could, in theory, be signed to a longer term contract if you match their price.

I agree Ottawa likely wants to build around him and probably values him like we do Johnny or Tkachuk.

However... Ottawa is a tire fire and he is an RFA as you mention. Maybe he doesn't want any part of them and doesn't intend to sign.

Probably unlikely, but possible.
