Mangipane scratched tonight. Likely called up in lieu of Ferlands injury.

Would not mind some type of retool on the backend.
Goals against would be a lot better if the team moved the puck forward quicker, instead of passing back and forth amongst the D.

Also, the breakout is woefully predictable.

Team defense is far more than the sum of talent of the 6 defensemen.

Moving Ferland to the 3rd line seems to have been ok....so far.
Flames done do anything, and miss playoffs, or get blown out in 1st rnd.

Hartley never had Mike Smith or even Brian Elliott though. He managed to win a playoff round with Wideman and Russell as his top pairing somehow, without Giordano.

Gulutzan does not yet have a playoff win. His entire roster of dmen and top two scorers are healthy. Results are really all that matter now. The Flames have to crack a 0-7 egg vs Edmonton with Gulutzan (Hartley went 10-1-1 prior) and beat Buffalo with nothing to lose as well.

This has to be a playoff team.

Just want to remind everyone that this is a forum where the main reason you post is to have FUN. Attacking each other over essentially nothing is not what anyone wants to read on this forum and it frankly causes others who are thinking of posting their opinions to back away and even leave the site entirely without seeing some of the great posts like AC's highlight videos and ATL Reports.

How about talking about needs. If a RH RW who is a legit 20 goal guy can be hand for a prospect not named Rasmus or Valamaki you have to take a serious look at trying to have 3 lines that can legitimately score goals.

If you can't find anything for that price then roll the bones with what we have.

I say we just sign Iggy and call it a deadline. Realistically the best move and it doesn’t cost us anything.

This isn't the year to overhaul the roster.

Need to see what Valimaki, Andersson and/or Kylington can do, which in turn will open up for a potential trade of Brodie or Stone.

I've watched Brodie deteriorate over the last seasons. It SEEMS that every game I watch he makes too many bone headed plays, gets beaten on the outside (weird for such a great skater) and I often find him just watching plays go past him. Maybe I'm overanalysing, but he's failing my eye test.

So if our defense prospects develop correctly I think the Flames should wait until next year, unless a very good opportunity arises for a top 9 right winger.

It all depends what's available, if a team will overpay for a guy like Ferland or Brodie I wouldn't hesitate moving them. If the team really wants a guy like Hoffman and they have to part with a prospect of player then they should do that.

Ultimately the team should be in on everything. Shop every player, inquire about every player available and make at least a couple of deals on Monday so I have something to watch that day.

I think the Flames need to go with the status quo unless a really good offer comes in, next year is more of a go for it year with this group. They have to dump Stajan, Brouwer and move on.

I doubt there is any value to be had. But if they can get a bag of pucks for either, I think they need to do it. Kinda like they did with Glencross a few years back. Then let the team do whatever they do after the deadline.

Oh do tell how bringing in a slow aging winger with zero games this year is the best move.

Fyp. I don't see it happening at the deadline but this team has to move on from Brodie if they are ever going to win anything. Too many game costing blunders.

How about we take Ryan, Ottawa’s 2018 1st and Hoffman for Brodie, Calgary’s 2019 first and a couple of prospects say Poirier, Kylington

Enough to entice Ottawa and we have to pray we aren’t a lottery team in 2019

As painful as it is to watch other teams stock up, I don’t think the Flames can really do anything. Tomorrow is not a day for hockey trades. It’s mostly one or two smart guys ripping off a bunch of hysterical people.

I think a solid depth piece or two of some variety will a) help keep up with LA/SJ/AnA which appear to be doing the same. B) provide an emotional lift to the roster, that management wants to add experience and NHL experience to the roster to make the push.

Look at the Mrazk addition to the Flyers, who had a GM get a guy and the team hasn’t skipped a beat as he has two wins. That dressing room has to be buoyed about the confidence the organization has them.

The Poirier sweetener strikes again.

Huh. Flames find themselves in 3rd in the division after tonight.

Wonder how that might affect Treliving’s psychology going into the last day before the deadline. We control our destiny.
