Definatly! Great off season. Time to trim a little fat and then send BT to the golf course for a month!

I also think an important part here is that the Flames need to start winning. We can’t let a losing culture set in, and even if this is a year longer than hoped the opportunity to start winning now cannot be undervalued.

Tree has nailed this summer, and given that Hanifin/Lindholm should come in somewhere around a combined 10-11M, I don’t think Tree is done. He’s going to drop some cap somewhere (Troy Troy Troy Troy).

For this season at least this is a huge add for the lineup and top line.

That being said really surprised they didn't buyout Brouwer considering how much they were looking to spend and having Hanifin and Lindholm to lockup. Barring a cap dump trade we are probably looking at a bridge for Hanifin now. Which is ok just means you may look at spending quite a bit more in a few seasons.

I feel bad for those who didn’t renew thier season tickets.

It’s like a whole new team has arrived in CGY.

I live in Victoria so I only go to 3 or 4 games a year.

Looks like I'll be planning my vacation time around the teams road trips and long home stands!!!

Best team we have had in 20 years...on paper

12.8 million left to sign 2F, 2D, 1G.

Lindholm is close to 5 million/yr and Jankowski at least 1.8 million/yr.

Leaving 6 million for Hanifan, Kulak and Rittich.

Hanifan must be a bridge deal for 2 years then.

Which will leave a bit for Tkachuk's bonuses so we dont have overage.

Cap increase, buyout of Brouwer next year, no Smith contract should help us squeeze in Tkachuk. But will be tight.

If Bennett has breakout year we will need to move some assets.

Real crunch comes with Brodie, Hamonic, and Hanifan all due in 2 years. But Valimaki at least should be ready by then to replace one of them.
And Stone in 2 years, hard to imagine this team without a contract like his

To a point, but now with all this depth I think they open up one spot for youth to try and earn a spot.

Surely one of Foo/Mangiapane/Dube/Lazar/Hathaway/Czernik/Klimchuk can fill the hole that losing Frolik creates.

Though i agree Brouwer now needs to be gone one way or another as well.

Yup...Treliving just added 3 fowards for under 10 million a year...in free agency.

Now I am happy. BT has crossed everything off his list and still has room to add come deadline

Now we have a proper roster.

As much as you can have that thought at the back of your head about the typical "a little too much, too long", the big thing is that this is a major swing for the fences. Not overpaying on a middling guy that could put up an okay performance but instead be a real difference maker.

Haha. I guess I owe Commodore and apology.

Vegas may have stole Reaves from the Flames by slightly outbidding them, but looks like the Flames slightly outbid them for Neal. The reports were Vegas was offering Neal a 5x5.

I also wonder if this means the Flames will use the 2nd buyout window on Brouwer. All they need is at least one player to file for salary arbitration. Or they just need to file for salary arbitration against at least one player. If this happens, they will have a 48 hour window to buyout a player 3 days after they settle or are awarded their final arbitration case.
